this is a terrible idea.
That diplomatic status they gave them seems more and more like a slow tightening python around their necks. They should not be used as political pawns and should have the power and right to say no if they dont want to.

OTOH, Korean nationalists and maybe even Korean general public might get pissed if BTS rejects the President, no matter how terrible his views are. We all know how much Korea values national pride, this might cross party lines so that even liberal Koreans might become upset if BTS rejects this.

Yeah...this is a really bad idea. Nationalistic red-pill Kforums are going wild in excitement over this, and not in a good way at all. Like a "this'll stick it to them" way but again, it's possible they could do it in a more neutral fashion, doubt the govt would go for that though.
But refusing is also tough....an obvious "oh world tour!" is also pretty bad in terms of we know they're avoiding it.
It's like how all the top musicians said no when Trump’s team asked them to perform at his inauguration or even the Super Bowl during Colin/kneeling down and the NFL expelling him, tons of performers refused to appear. So some people are expecting them to not come.
Also them doing it for an exemption would look bad....

Do you know if it was an open secret in Korea that BTS supported the former President Moon? If so, this could explain why they have to be careful about angering the new President, since this new dude and Moon are obviously political enemies.
This is not something they can easily say no to, SK is not America. Hope everything turns alright in the end

This is my biggest fear, because the government can be very corrupt. 
Speaking politically it’s interesting that this president is pushing for the kpop idol demographic who are backed by a large amount of female following to be at the forefront of HIS inauguration when he campaigned largely on reforms against women and women’s rights

yes, this is a political event only and them performing at his inauguration might seem they are supporting him. privately they can think whatever they want but publically they should be apolitical. i don't want them to be associated with any politician, all of them are terrible people
