Is f(x) lowkey the forgotten child when it comes to SM girl groups?

They were super successful. It was just that they stopped promoting right as Kpop started getting big internationally. SNSD managed to still stay alive as Kpop got bigger internationally and they were just THE girl group that paved the way for everyone. That's why they have more of a surviving fanbase

Plus if you think they're the forgotten child, there's the Grace. They used to win on music shows too.

SNSD at least have Taeyeon keeping the name afloat in the music world + they were actually gigamassive so naturally they still have a surviving fanbase.

they still achieved an amazing amount of fame during 2nd/3rd gen. Sadly SM wasn't on their side it seems, even If I woun't blame it all on SM like most MEUs do. But yea, they are still known in the kpop community, many people love their albums

Also SM ggs like The Grace and MIlk are more forgotten than f(x)

As someone who has liked f(x) since their debut, its hard to be enthusiastic about them. I love them and I am nostalgic about them but lets not beat around the bush.

f(x) being forgotten is not just bc of SM, its mainly bc the members have moved on. The only ones who want to do music is Luna and Amber but they have a ZERO support from the fandom. When people yell that they want f(x) stuff, they mean they want Victoria and Krystal. If fans supported Luna and Amber even a little bit, we might have had a chance at getting some f(x) content. But nop, they rather keep wishing for Krystal and Victoria to return to kpop than actually support the members who want to do music.

And yes I am bitter than majority of MEUs are pretentious and want to make believe people that they care about music. Nah you only want music from some members.

I will always claim them

They had the best discography for SM girl groups and also in kpop, no one will touch it

FX is kind of boring compared to SM's other groups. That's the short answer.

People also totally forgot that S.E.S used to exist. And yes, some people don't even know that this one Aespa-song is a cover of S.E.S and don't even know that S.E.S used to exist. They were the most popular female SM-act back as SM was kinda new and now nobody knows them anymore. There are even people who forgot or didn't even know that S.E.S released 2 MV in 2016 after being away for around 10 years before. Back in 2016 some people even thought S.E.S was a new artist under SM wich they were not

Why is this the case? Is it because they weren't as successful as some of the other SM groups orrrr....

I think there are a number of reasons for that;

1. Fx had the least number of fans compared to other SM groups because they were never promoted as much as other SM groups.

2. They mainly focused on their solo careers in their last 5 years as a group which limited their growth. I honestly don't think that Fx ever peaked, they never got to that level where slowing down would keep them relevant for a long time like Snsd and Red Velvet.

3. Fx never had members as popular as the most popular Snsd and Red Velvet members. Victoria was getting there but she left to China. Krystal never made it as big as Yoona and Irene, Luna never got the respect and recognition that Taeyeon and Wendy have even if she's vocally stronger than both.

4. Fx always had more individual member issues that hindered their growth as a group and therefore their fandom remained small. First with Sulli leaving the group yet she was considered a visual, then Amber being very different compared to other Kpop girls which hindered her individual peak, then Victoria leaving before Fx peaked, then Krystal losing morale of being an idol and avoids anything SM after Jessica was kicked out and finally Luna not attracting enough fans to keep her solo career relevant. Each member had something working against her Fx career which killed Fx. Had Luna and Amber been popular enough like say JOY and Wendy, Fx would've had longevity and therefore more fans.

Not many people would want to stan a group with such issues. In fact, I believe that Fx's issues were beyond even SM's control immediately after Sulli left. Things started getting out of control.

They deserved so much better.

Facts only!

NGL i had no clue about them, some forum regulars kept hyping them up but i felt no interest in learning about them.

The first time i truly noticed any of their songs was when Minju did a cover of Rumpumpum with her Izone, Itzy and Idle friends last December. It was fantastic, the song was good too.

SM pretty much gave up on them after Sulli left and it's not like they put much effort into them to begin with
