Well, now she is jumping the boundaries of Kpop quite often since there are quite a lot of nonKpoppers in the chart.
As a K-pop fan in 2022, I feel blessed with this new peak era in K-pop where K-pop artists are overtaking the charts again

With a little bit of luck, we might have SIX Kpop acts in the top 10 of Melon Daily early next month. The luck needed is StayC jumping that musty Lim Young Wong dude clogging up the charts , and of course, OMG and BB charting high with their comebacks.

So you have given up on Blackpink and Jo Yuri. Sensible.🙃
LYW is musty? By what measure, he is younger than Big Bang, Taeyeon.
Or his music or fandom age?
Such bigotry...tsk tsk.. it would be delicious to see him kick your k-pop acts on the charts.

You mean for girl groups
Sadly enough, the boy groups are lagging behind in this so far.

That'd be neat to see! I don't see Big Bang fail at charting into the Top 10, OMG are very likely to chart in the top too.
It's peculiar that the gap between gg and bg charting is so big right now.
In 2nd gen era you had a lot of groups, girl groups but also boy groups that knew how to chart well, and not only the top boy group.
Maybe it was because there was more interaction and collabs between boy groups and girl groups, on stage and off stage like in variety shows?
The general public usually shows more interest in girl groups than boy groups, but when seeing them altogether a lot of the times might have familiarised and warmed up the general public to boy groups too.

I think at some point Korea gave up on idol groups, but now they seem to be slowly warming up to them again. GGs have always been more popular with GP, so it makes sense they're charting better than BGs even now. I just hope that the GP also gives some attention to 4th Gen BGs - we have already seen some songs like Polaroid Love or TXT's and AB6IX's songs charting, so I hope more songs by those artists will follow. I wouldn't expect the GP to warm up to SKZ, Treasure or Ateez though - their music is just not the GPs cup of tea.

That'd be great indeed! I like how it was when Hallyu was at its peak in 2nd gen era and boy groups and girl groups were both doing so well, it had such a special vibe to it, also in all the Koran tv shows where both bg and gg members were present and had all kinda fun interactions. It feels like that part is missing now somewhat, so I hope it'll return.

You are exactly right. When music channels like MTV started doing more original programming and less music videos as things got more available online, the music video pretty much died over here for the most part outside of a few artists here and there. K-Pop definitely jumped in and filled that void.
Something that came to me when I rewatched Tomboy: it really has the vibe of '80s and '90s American MV's, that combination of sass and rebellious streak combined with rock: I wouldn't have been surprised if I'd found this MV among other American MV's on a '80s or '90s playlist, or if (G)I-dle would say they were inspired by music and MV's from that era, Tomboy has same feel to it.
