How to get Lightsum to succeed like G-idle?

I don't think you can. They're too generic imo.

I just checked their sales numbers and indeed Vanilla sold 41.1k copies which is not so bad for a non-Big3 debut actually. Problem is, their first comeback sold only 28.4k, so they're already on a downward spiral. Obviously something's not clicking. They gonna need a concept change I think; plus they need to figure something out so that a couple members get noticed; right now no one really stands out.

I think they have a concept, it's supposed to be cute, bubblegum, girly pop a la Iz*One. But it's not memorable enough. The girls lack star power; or if they don't, then they're poorly directed. Maybe they're too many; some of them I don't really see what they bring to the table.

So far, Lightsum are just not memorable, even compared to CLC... Vanilla wasn't received well and I'm not really sure what the concept was. VIVACE sounds like an IZ*ONE song kinda but it was pretty forgettable too... Idk, matching G-Idle will be extremely hard because of the existence of Soyeon alone but they could bounce back if Cube gives them a memorable title track or release a full album... or both, because they seem to be getting behind the big amount of girlgroups debuting

I know soyeon first before knowing g idle because she is quite popular even outside of her fandom. Lightsum does not have any outstanding members that attract people to them and I don't even know any of them.

Cube is a shithole of a kpop company, gidle & 4minute were an exception who managed to succeed, lightsum is gonna end up like rest of cube groups

wouldnt call any of izone title songs bubblegum pop though. Vanilla was clearly bubblegum pop and vivace was like a izone child of fiesta and panorama

their songs aren't that bad, they just aren't anything special or rememberable.

They seem like the uninteresting version of izone

You’re right but Gidle are unique, they gained traction because they were separating from other GG sound, while Lightsum have nothing memorable, just a copy of Izone. Vanilla sounds like a nugu song.

Sure but it's kinda in the same territory. It's not like they went from Vanilla to some EDM girl crush a la Everglow. That's why I feel they remained pretty consistent genre wise from Vanilla to Vivace.

they need brand awareness and some sort of virility??? viralness???

ie they need to get their group's name out there...I like lightsum but I'm not sure how they are going to do that

Cube really sucks at bringing out the full potential of their groups.

In order to accomodate the youngest Lightsum members with concepts that fit them, they come up with generic cute or IZ*One style concepts that completely negate the main strengths of Lightsum as a group.

Aside from the fact that they don't have aces in the usual fields - they don't have top tier visuals or centers - Cube underutilises the aces and core strengths that Lightsum do have

The magical fantasy approach that they showed with the predebut teaser was actually pretty good and intriguing - instead they abandoned it for a bland cute/bright debut song as Vanilla.

And while girl crush in all its variants dominate K-pop and Lightsum as a group actually could pull a sortlike concept of magnificently (certainly with members as Sangah, Chowon and Juhyeon), Cube keeps making the wrong choices, allowing all the existing hype to bleed out.

They need better songs or better title tracks imo

I dont blame the girls of Lightsum at all of course. They're obviously talented and their music isnt terrible. And i dont think Cube is at fault, they have a clear concept with Lightsum, they're following in Izone's footsteps.

They just havent resonated with fans because you need more than popular concepts or even talent. You need to have top notch visuals and the intangible quality known as charisma. You cant throw a bunch of singers and dancers together, give them Izone aesthetics and music, and expect to achieve Izone success. You need stan attractors to gain fan interest and loyalty and Izone has that in droves.

Tbh the music in their debut trailer is much more appealing than their title tracks
