Not sure if they’re a top 4th gen girlgroup atm but if they can beat IVE next comebacks, I can see it happening. It’s also possible they’ll be like gfriend (considered as a potential top group but in the end other girlgroups from big companies surpass them). They have potential for sure. They’re the whole package

Might be tough with Itzy, Aespa and now having to contend with Ive. I think though if Stayc can get that big hit it can really help them. We also can't forget Weeekly. I think if StayC can get a big viral hit like what After School did for Weeekly, then it may the step they need.
If it means anything I notice their name a lot so that has to count for something, right?

Well it's about perspective. You may not see it that way but a lot do, it's also not like I only mention views.
If you look at the metrics/numbers that make a top group like a check list let's see how StayC stack up.
Korean charting? Yeah they perform relatively good compared to other top 4th gen GG's. That's a pass.
Views? No. They don't perform well at all in comparison to Aespa, Itzy and even Ive and Kep1er. That's not just MV's but fancams, dance practices, performance vids, etc. These are all on average much lower than other top gg's.
Spotify streams and charting? Again no. They don't really do much on Spotify or Apple global charts. They have lower streams that Aespa, Kep1er, Itzy and Ive as well as 2-ish million less ML's on average. That's no small number.
Move onto other things like charting in Japan, Billboard charting, China, etc they perform on avg worse than other 4th gen GG's too. Combined with lower sales so far to the tune of hundreds of thousands in some cases and a totally unproven record of touring.
I mean we're asking are StayC a top GG based on 1 sole standout metric, as all other fall below-in some cases significantly-other top girl groups? 2-3 good sized hits are great, but they aren't enough make up for lacking international performance, views, streams, sales and no outing data.
I agree with some points you made but you know that all the ggs you mentioned are from big companies, survival shows and Ive have a big izone member in it right? All these ggs have privileges to be easily noticed internationally.
StayC are from a new and nugu company, they don't have the same exposure and no members from survival shows. What they are doing is a lot without all this.

Kpop fans tend to be too obsessed with competitiveness but they forget that kpop is about music at the end of the day. Not matter if there are other groups doing better than a group as long as that group is doing good fans should be happy about it. Kpop fans mentality is you are on the top or you are wortheless but that's not what music is about.
It's okay to be only popular in korea or asia, nothing wrong with that tho kpop fans use it as a drag since they are so fixed on international success. I know most of idols would want to be popular in their home countries.
The good about stayc is they have showed some consistency so far, they just need a little push. A big hit would help them to solidify their position, at least in korea.

What is a top group? Top 3, top 5, top 10??
Considering their charting , growing physical sales, amount of cfs and individual popularity I do think they are a top group. Maybe not as high as aespa and ive but atm i for sure consider them top 5. No amount of Spotify or YouTube streams surpass their two top 10 melon hits

Seems like people keep underestimating STAYC, Stayc are among one of the biggest 4th gen GG right now. In Korea only IVE and Aespa are doing better than them. Asap was one of the biggest GG last year, after a moderate hit stereotype they’re repeaking and R2U is shaped to be a bigger hit than ASAP (at least I hope) they already surpassed 400K copies from Hanteo alone their growth in albums sales is growing faster and faster just because you’re 4th-5th or whatever doesn’t mean you’re weak.

The 4th gen gg race is only just beginning but from what they have accomplished so far I would say yes, Stayc should be regarded as a top 4th gen gg, not that there are many groups in that category in the first place. I feel like they are growing steadily and will have a big breakthrough in the next year or two.

Before 00 and Run2U, i was actually worried that StayC would be left behind with all the hype from new GGs like Ive and Nmixx, even Kepler. I thought they might be "Everglow'd"
But now that 00 flopped and Run2U blew up (solidly in top 10 of Melon i think), i think it's safe to say StayC girls aint "going down" without a fight
They're giving me OMG vibes, like a Big 5 version of OMG with their sneaky underrated domestic popularity.

Ofc it doesn't matter who is on top or not, I asked a genuine question seeing how stayc are doing well by not be a girl group coming from big companies.
The music is what matter the most in kpop for me
It's fun how international fans drag popular groups in Korea by not being big outside of their country, but then when a gg is big internationally but not domestically they drag them for this reason too that no one knows them in Korea
