They splurge so much on the mv and outifits that the profit is very low and then yg refuses to give them music because they are not profitable. Kpop fans have even said that the online concert was not profitable at all because of the "expensive" stages. Where is this coming from and how much truth is there to it? This money counting from total sales and tour is enough to say that?
The assumption that blackpink is not a profitable group compared to twice or seventeen or even nct.

I've never personally seen anyone say that, but I wouldn't be surprised. Kpop stans think they're financial experts.

I saw so many saying this even here that it still baffles me how some use their "logic" like this... Impressive. BP is a profitable group and their continuous expensive MVs and "image" proves it. Nobody will invest millions on something/someone who will give them cents, this is just dumb.
Anyways, BP is the revolution.

They're incredibly profitable. I think anyone that says otherwise really doesn't understand economics.
Companies would not hold onto an asset for very long if they were losing money on them.

Not sure anyone actually says that. They consistently top the Forbes lists.
Also YG and YGPlus just had their biggest sales/revenue year in history...in YG's case biggest in 26 years.
A combined $420 million in 2021.
In 2021 YG's operating profit was up 371%.
YGPlus' operating profit was up 316%
A combined $63 million in operating profit.
Of course YG is in a lot of industries, but BLACKPINK has a huge impact on YG's numbers. BLACKPINK's tour alone is a big reason why experts have raised YG's stock price expectation to hit a 10-year high and YG's market cap to hit 3 trillion won ($2.47 billion) this year.

I'm sure that the members ALONE are more profitable than any other active artist in YG right now. Their individual deals alone, doing work for huge brands have to bring so much money for YG. Their solo singles / albums are the best selling albums for solo artists and the numbers they make on spotify / itunes and apple music bring money too. Photobooks and other merch sells well and when they start to give concerts again, they will make more money than ever.
Believe me, Blackpink is the biggest moneymaker in YG. The members are certainly one of the richest female idols and that alone should confirm how profitable Blackpink must be. 'The Album' is the best selling album by female kpop artists, even today the album sells well, and their music videos, which may cost a lot of money to produce, bring the money back in a few weeks due to the incredible views.
The problem isn't Blackpink. The problem is YG.
