People always look at me funny when I tell them I really enjoy watching disaster documentary shows, especially plane crash ones. I even will download them to watch while I'm waiting for a flight (but not where anyone else can hear or see ofc!)
Wby?

I have a habit of always wearing jackets/long sleeves regardless of how hot it is. I also always wear headphones in public but the former gives me a lot more weird looks and questions
For weird hobbies I collect plastic ponies and every year spend embarrassing amounts of money at a plastic pony convention. Whoever ends up somehow getting a reservation at that hotel other than us hobbyists think we are VERY weird
We literally sell stuff out of our hotel rooms and most are packed floor to ceiling
I like watching road videos and drivelapses
I also make those kind of videos.

I had no idea a plastic pony hobby existed much less that it was popular enough to have a convention! That's interesting

Like videos of the road as seen through a car window during a drive?
True crime is interesting to me, I also like to go on wikipedia rabbit hole dives. Often about random shit that I forget about later, its kinda like white noise. fun
hmm...true crimes huh?
planning for something my friend?

Lol wikipedia. I'll start off looking up someone's filmography and two hours later wonder how i got to reading about peruvian mountain goats.
I love true crime too

yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I watch surgery videos, not because I "enjoy" it, I get too curious about how these things happened in the first place and I end up learning something new (and feeling like I need to throw up because ew). I also watch random carpet cleaning videos, i don't really know what it was supposed to be for fun at first but I somehow got invested
I like Bible Theory.
A LOT.
Not the ones you usually hear in the church, but other theories about Giants, Angelology and Demonology, writings on Apocryphal Books, Gnosticism and the Primitive Church, the origins of the religion and its relationship to ancient Persian religions, theories behind miracles and many other stuff. Eschatology is the fave theme discussed in the church and it's also interesting, but studying the past of the religion is amusing.
I'm not religious, but the stories are intriguing and the more you dive into them, the more you get to know many interesting theories.
I don't wanna prove anyone anything tho. I just search about these topics for personal interest.
Whenever I talk to a religious person, they get impressed with my Biblical knowledge despite not visiting the church or taking lectures at the church.
I like these themes since I was a kid and people found that weird. I used to question Bible Theory at the church lectures when I was about 8-9 and no one answered me, so I decided to search things by myself (eventually left the church) and here's where the hobby began lol
Despite religion being so spread, not everyone is into diving into theories and stuff like that. Most of them just take the words literally and don't take the origins of the religion in consideration (both culturally and historically).
Other religions are very interesting for me too and I also take a look on their history and values too.
Humans are very interesting.
I also have a particular interest about religion sects and disasters related to them, true crime (mainstream enough not be considered weird) and Astronomy.

I occasionally watch medical stuff. And actually i bet carpet cleaning videos are very satisfying.
I like something that is almost a combination of the two. Dental cleaning videos are very satisfying lol

That all sounds super interesting! I've always been curious about how certain beliefs, customs, and traditions develop. Like which prohibitions started due to knowing that certain foods or acts were dangerous? Which mores were enforced because those in power used those for control or personal gain? What was adopted or changed when different cultures cane together? How did change in language and other influences change the religion itself?

Exactly! Questions like these keep me interested in the theme as years go by.

Are there any theories in particular that you have found super interesting? I saw a really fascinating documentary about the possible explanations for the biblical plagues once. And one of the theories was that first borns would get a greater share of some food that they though likely had become contaminated. And ofc there's obvious stuff like the prohibition about pork because of how dangerous it could be if not stored and prepared correctly.
I like to watch horror animations. They scare the hell out of me but for some reason I’m addicted. I guess it’s my guilty pleasure. But yeah, I’m pretty sure if I told someone “hey, I like to watch disturbingly creepy stories about demons and demented people and shit at like 12:00 in the morning” people would probably look at me funny lol-

you can like something even if you are afraid or scared of it...
it just means you don't tolerate scary stuff well...
i like to practice my handwriting and some people think that's weird because my handwriting is supposedly already
"aesthetic"
I don't know what you say but others say
curiosity killed the cat...lol
let's hope it doesn't harm goldennini!!!!

That’s the phrase I was looking for lmao-
Curiosity definitely kills me, all of the time 😔 Unfortunately, it’s always too late for me to be saved
And it won’t! I’ll make sure of it!

My fave theme is the connection between the origins of the religion and Zoroastrianism.
The main values of all major Abrahamic religions come from this Persian ancient religion and its influence is so consistent that it follows later on Gnosticism (post-Christ Jewish-Christian sects) for example.

Oh that is interesting. I'll have to read up on it. Maybe by doing a wikipedia deep dive lol

And thank you! I will be! 🤪
kpop is one
but the other is to brainstorm absolutely wacky things.
Like an aircompressor powered by the temperature fluctuation caused by the day/night cycle.
or a purely mechanical IR laser. shizz like that lol
oh and adapting steam engines to be used with pressurized air (its not as simple as ya think!)
Yeah, following K pop.

Also ASMR videos.
I like to read and watch videos/documentaries about European History (20th and late 19th century history), and geography.
I love reading about the different countries of the world ever since I was very little. At around 10 years old I knew all the capitals and flags of the world. I forgot about 30% of that by now but I still know a good bunch and people think that's "weird". I used to be embarrassed about it for a long time but now I've learned to embrace that side of me.
I also have a fascination about different languages. I taught myself the cyrillic alphabet when I was a kid, and in my life I've learned English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Swedish, Italian, Russian and now German. I don't speak all of them, but know some basics at least.
I also used to love to read about astronomy but I dropped that some time ago.
does it not spoil things for you though?
