by this logic everyone is flopping internationally except for BTS and BP

if you use your brain that's obviously not the case

the only popular BRAND is BTS because they appear everywhere, whether it is radio, television and social networks.

Now the only thing I listen to is jpop and I watch anime, so I only know what is popular within my tastes, only TXT is entering my otaku line because many are interested in the group for singing openings of popular anime.

I didn’t know txt sang for World trigger. I was so shocked. It’s sad BTS don’t make anime ost. In the past Suga was interested in one for naruto. But that never happened because they weren’t popular. And now that they are naruto is over

I mean this is true in one sense but not in another. Groups can still be very popular internationally within the gigantic overseas kpop scene, but still not be household names to normies.

I think when most people say their faves are doing well internationally they aren't literally meaning they are household names that everyone knows. More like, they have enough fans internationally to make a dent in the charts and cause a stir.

this is how every music genre with a foreign base works. its only well known internationally be people who are specifically into it with a few exceptions. this isn't rocket science that popularity is relative to community, wether chosen or otherwise

It is interesting because everyone thinks that kpop represents all of Asia when if we talk about future groups that will be popular known in their own niche for me they are the following TXT = Korea Sixtones = Japan and the new group that will come out of CHUANG in China taking into account that INTERSeCTION is participating and is a group with a decent community of fans. That does not determine that other groups can have hit and be more popular than the mentioned groups but in the end there is still a big obstacle called BTS

BTS are US pop culture. There have been questions about them on Jeopardy. A game show aimed for only the US GP who are definitely older than teenagers. It may stick in your craw, but yes BTS is all over the US media enough to penetrate into the GP now.

Yeah but not their names, they are still only known as the guy with the blue hair, the guy in the brown suit, etc. I guess maybe just knowing them as bts is better, I dont know.

That is true but insignificant. If the GP recognizes the name BTS, that is enough. As a non fan, I didn’t know the names of all the members of One Direction, Spice girls, Fifth Harmony, or really the Beatles either. Until you become interested enough to learn it, it’s really not expected to know all the group member names. It is harder if it is a foreign name that is hard to pronounce in English.
