Why do idols lack self-confidence when they aren't wearing makeup?

oh.. Hm.. I honestly think majority of idols are even more beautiful without make up, I can't understand because I am not in their head, but maybe they think they dont look the same as they present to their fans often so they might feel embarrassed?

maybe bc there hoards of jobless people behind the screens zooming in on them trying to find an imperfection?

I've seen some idols be shy about being barefaced (while some idols can also rock it in public like Twice Jihyo) but it might be because of the super high standards netizens draw out for them.

For some reason, netizens, whether domestic or international, expect their idols to be perfect at all times. Like the idols are some sort of robots that aren't allowed to have regular human flaws.

I remember countless of people who see barefaced idols who's skin isn't as clear or something like that be mocked as if they expect them to be completely perfect. Unfortunately, it's extreme and really sad.

well he was with his family and some random fan (probably with the best intentions) still confronted him so maybe his mother said "he didn't have his face on" as a way of politely saying

ummm can't you see that he's with his family???

because there's so much expectations from them on how to look, they just don't want to shatter their fantasy. Usually they're seen either with make up already or with photoshop.

Yoohyeon once told fans she's not Dreamcatcher when confronted at the airport she pretty much gives her reasoning why.

Anyone would lack self confidence if they weren't wearing make up imo. Make up can help a person's confidence though it's a bit hard to wear any at the moment with a mask on our face.

I feel like I look better with makeup on, so I don't know why it would be any different for someone that's hyper scrutinized. People pick on them for their weight gain or because they look tired or because they don't look excited enough, so I get it. I saw a clip of a live when people were complaining Kun wears the same beanie in his off hours posts/lives so he got up and changed it. Like really, people?

Because fans constantly expect their skin to look like a perfect snapchat filter that isn’t realistic, not to mention it’s normal to feel more confident with makeup on in the first place.

Even us regular mortals feel insecure when we have a single pimple on our face,let alone someone whose entire existence is being nitpicked through social media.

Why are we calling this just an idol thing? Many people feel uncomfortable without make up. Idols, especially, are in the spotlight 24/7 so if they are that kind of people who don't feel comfy going out without make up then it must be even tougher now that they have cameras pointing at them all the time

I'm not sure it applies in this case due to the words coming from his mother with a sentence that has cultural undertones.

Isn't this a human thing, and not so much an idol thing?
