I think what happens is just that bgs have a bigger amount of hardcore fans, so the probability of seeing one of them mentioned as the best or one of the best overall is bigger. But gg fans always mention their faves as the best overall too.
We are all biased in the end of day.

Just look at Itzy, people will not praise their dancing without putting gg in front. While their fellow bg mates can just be called one of the best.

Charts and numbers aside, people often only compare boy groups with other boy groups and girl groups with other girl groups when it comes to the actual art. It's the same reason why award shows often designate categories according to gender, MAMA's Best Dance Performance Male Group and Best Dance Performance Female Group as an example.
There's also a distinction made when speaking of soloists because we tend not to put them in the same category as groups.
Generally, K-pop fans like to classify things, hence why there's so much discussion regarding best this and that per generation. There's even debate about whether or not certain groups belong in a generation. It's just the lingo we use for discussing K-pop since it's such a saturated industry with so many acts; we tend to be very specific about things like this. That's all there is to it.

I never felt the need to specify gender to appreciate someone's talent. Curious what makes those people think like that.

.Also as for OP's post, i can unequivocally say that Soyeon is the top all around artist in Kpop.
Chaeyeon is the best dancer in Kpop.Lisa is the best rapper in Kpop.
And the best vocalist in Kpop also would go to one of a handful of top female idols.

huh? Except for actual records, many achievements can be claimed by fans, then claim that for Itzy- 'Best dancer' without the gg tag. Make an appreciation thread. What's stopping you?

Why are GG fans feeling the need to specify "the best GG-anything" or "the best female idol at XYZ"?
This thread has the same energy as those other threads where people complain about 100 things regarding GGs, when in reality, it all comes to the GG fans to do/say (or don't say, in this case) those things.

I hate to say it, but I want to be honest with my opinion… but I have the feeling that many GG fans do see GG’s inferior to BG’s… It bothers me a lot that many GG fans treat their faves as damsels in distress every time.

I am not sure about the GG fans seeing GGs as inferior but fans seeing the GGs members as "damsels in distress" is something that I came across many times.
