I think the problem is that it's very one-note yet all over the place at the same time. I actually mind some NCT songs because there's a clear melody that's actually memorable, but Step Back's chorus is forgettable, the bridge is a mess and the verses aren't any better. It feels like a bunch of yelling and shouting over a betha. idk if that made sense but yeah.
I agree that it sounds more like a SuperM song.
Still way below my expectations for me considering the lineup.
Just listened to it, and that's a freaking powerhouse line-up.
I really like the song, and with like 5 main vocals packed into one group, the vocals were...*chef's kiss*
Honestly, I don't know how any other unit is going to match this one.
It's shitty and forgettable, and yes I'm mad it's doing well. The only redeeming factor are the high notes. Calling it an NCT reject is an insult to NCT.
