Idols ARE GOODLOOKING PEOPLE by default. the idol industry is one that depends on and sells beauty. Thus, many companies and idols end up using various apps, filters etc to live up to this UNREALISTIC ideal of beauty.

Many times I see people posting about how this idol has FLAWLESS SKIN, NO PORES, is PAPER PALE, has the BEST BODY etc and feel bad that they cannot live up to these ideals. but the truth is THESE IDEALS ARE NOT REALITY!. Your idols are good-looking, but they are not perfect/flawless and if you see those photos and videos and compare yourself to them, you will feel terrible!

I want people to understand that many times the photos and videos you admire are edited and filtered. Idols look good in real life, but these photos and videos are unrealistic and set an UNREACHABLE beauty standard.

I will share some of the filers/apps/ editing stuff here. don't click the spoilers if u don't wish to.

BODY EDITING( videos and photos)

There is entire software that can edit people's body while they are MOVING AND DANCING! sometimes even the videos you see might not be reality.

Also face tune, and body tune can completely change the way idols' bodies look in photos.

sooo many idol photos i see are heavily edited using this app. it gives that same paper pale skin tone, no pores, sharp v line, huge eye look.

most of these contents are always editing and filtered. sometimes i do see raw footage and its WONDERFUL. for example in BTS butter music video i could actually see skin, or in some award shows performances u can actually see texture etc.

I used to watch a make up YouTube channel and the guy knows all those editing things so I know about it already.

Personally I hate it and I’m happy my boys slowly cutting back on the snow app. I’m not gonna be naive and say that they don’t use any program but there is a noticeable difference between their older and recent photos. Often their own phone selfie just normal but if they use company phone there is still some more blurred picture.

It’s possible there is still some smoothing tool used but looks more natural especially around the mouth. Sometimes Taehyun gets wrinkled around his eyes when he wears make up and recently you can see it on some of the selfie.

Then I remembered this live lol Bare face Yeonjun covered in spots and stubbles. I think this was the live when he even said that he tried to hide his spot but it’s not working. They are too strong. Lol And all Moa cared about how good he look even with pimples.

i know it's not kpop but look at the ridiculously bright lights they use for filming. and of course smooth filter, no pores, no wrinkles, no nothing. we can't know for certain how idols and actors look in real life because they are always whitewashed and edited but we know how conan looks. look at this nonsense

It’s why when they step foot outside Korea they look so much different without all the filters. I should make a thread with idols pictures but it may cause an uproar lol. Getty Images be exposing a lot of our faves.
