The ''VIPS''

One of the evil foreigners voice reminded me of John Michael Tatum voice actor of this guy! It's all I kept hearing lmao
-
-
not evil white men, any white men. i already shared my theory that kdrama casting directors cast any random white men they see on the streets because people that show up in their dramas are certainly not actors

-
Reminds me how in Hollywood, all the roles written about Balkan people are old mobsters and possibly trafficked girls
with extremely thick accents
-
Yeah, or they can get a decent western actor and just dub over them with a good Korean voice actor.
-
-
they should have casted Walter white

-
It's always a mix between terrible acting with crindgey english lines.

Sorta related but a positive take.
One of my favorite "white guy kdrama characters" was in Birdie Buddy with UEE.
They just leaned into the goofiness.
This drama is about golf.
And in it one of the main characters is taught the mystical ways of golf by a mysterious white guy hermit who lives alone in a wooden shack in the secluded Korean mountains. Like a monk. He has a wooden staff that he uses to teach how to hit the golf ball and a monk robe and everything.
They even call him Teacher.
And a flashback showing how he had a history as a business man in Korea but was burned by his partners and lost everything. And found salvation in the ways of golf.
It sounds so cringy (and it is) but I'll be damned if it doesn't work.
My god that drama pulls it off. It's actually endearing in this goofy way.

Squid Game made me appreciate Hans and Carson in So Not Worth It. They were written and portrayed as normal human beings (weird human beings but it was a sitcom after all).
