I like your answer. Spring Day is more of a sleeper compared to BST or DNA, it only really started becoming a huge hit once it started having crazy longevity.

I think locally and internationally DNA was what started they’re rise. Locally I can’t tell because I became I found out about them a couple weeks before spring day was released

I’d say DNA made BTS shoot to global stardom. But their previous releases like Dope (my first encounter with BTS), Fire and Spring Day came to my consciousness even though I was GP at that time.

So BTS is the epitome of getting successful brick by brick at a time. Very organic growth.

Don't know about Korea, since, I'm not Korean or live there, but I thought I Need You was what started the ball rolling. Also, DNA, and their performance at the BBMAs I think was what catapulted their global presence.

I vaguely knew of them a little bit before this but I was very prejudiced against boy groups and kpop. This performance immediately made me a fan.

In my view, BST brought BTS to the top in 2016, and before that we have Fire, after that SD continued it.

But then, DNA was the song that we saw which had a "surprising success". The records of it having 100M in just 24 days is already amazing.

And then Fake Love brought BTS first PAK, and it was so successful.

BWL brought BTS to new heights in the West, I suppose. Dynamite even blew them up more and more.

So hard to choose.

BST is iconic

The article is asking about which song made BTS The Top group so it has to be 2018, Fake Love imo. LY tear scoring their first number 1 on BB 200 with the single charting in top 10 of hot 100. Getting their first pak on Korean charts, that was what made them the Top Group.
