money does make the world turn. That being said, it is up to armys to keep the hit going and slowly make it organic over time. Deep pockets can only last so far.

I always wondered about this. After seeing how much radio Butter is getting, is it still considered "payola"?

I think the days of BTS being framed as a victim of xenophobic gatekeeping (which was all true in the past i'm sure) are long gone now.

BTS is part of the corporate establishment, backed by the biggest name in Korea (HYBE) and the biggest names in the US (Scooter, Sony Music). The media campaign for Butter has been unbelievable, i've never seen anything like it. Poor Olivia's carwashes cant come close to competing with BTS promotions lol, just David vs Goliath all around.

She sent her fucking cd to Kim Kartrashian who then tweeted to her bazillion followers how much she loves it. Olivia ain’t poor by any means. She got a Cracker Jack team working for her as well. Poor my ass.

Why do songs get blasted on the radio more from acts that can barely sell out arenas or your local theatre than BTS who clearly has more fans?

Explain that.

Organic has lost all meaning with so many avenues to get a hit song.

A single is supposed to create buzz and sell copies. That's exactly what Butter is doing. It's a pure success, doesn't matter who buys or streams it, or how many times.

At the end of the day, the royalties get paid out to the writers and the distributors get their cut.

Kpop stans from the Big3 (or used to) are trying to make BTS the bad guy here just because they finally make it after 8 years of slow and steady growth, going against acts with western push.

No the thread isn’t closed, we haven’t reached page 10,782 arguing about Butter being inorganic. I thought it only can in salted and unsalted. Obviously it also comes in extra extra salty.
