Why so many Kpop songs are about love?

because the songs are supposed to be relatable, and most kpop groups want to appeal to female teenagers, and love is a popular subject there. It's not really rocket science.

Love and the pain of losing love are relatable to fans who have experienced the same thing, they can relate to the song more.

Most songs in general are about love tbh, at least mainstream ones.

But lately, kpop songs, at least titles, haven't been about love. More about 'self-confidence', if that's a proper word to describe them lol...

Majority of pop songs are about love: wanting love, getting a bit of love, and lost love - not just kpop

BTS is one of the few acts that didn’t have love relationship theme in majority of their songs

I don’t want to derail this thread, but yes please check out the song. That’s why they have the artistic MV version and also did connect BTS where they collab with various artists across the globe. Too bad the pandemic stop whatever momentum they had with connect. It’s was a commendable effort to link pop with art.

This, it's not only kpop. Most mainstream songs are about love, or heartbreak, or love triangle - whatever. Hell, Taylor Swift built her entire career on love songs.

But I also agree that a lot of popular hits lately - kpop or not - are NOT really about love stories. Or if it, it's done in a different way ( about toxic love, about non-romantic love etc... )

It's nice, even though love songs will always be a cornerstone
