The digital standard people hold BTS to is hilarious...

...especially when you consider the songs by other popular idol groups that have actually flopped/underperformed (and some sank like rocks) in the past 2 or so years.

Yet when ON didn't become a 2nd BWL, there were threads for months about how BTS was over, and they'd never recover.

And when Life Goes On couldn't surpass Dynamite, they were called one-hit wonders as if they didn't have songs from 2017 and 2019 still in the top 100 after actual years.

I see how y'all move. It ain't cute.

And yes, I woke up today feeling a little shady. Just a little.

If a song is a hit, it's a hit, doesn't matter who released it.

Same thing for an underperformance. If it "flopped", well it didn't do well.

March 2020 to Dynamite was very bad time on akp. I was gonna join akp during that time but decided not to when I saw shitshow almost every day here. I mean it was time for everything in general.

Frankly up from Black Swan up until Dynamite was first teased, AKP was not a fun place to be for an ARMY last year.

ON is nowhere near the biggest flop of 2020, or even their career. It did well, but some just didn't want to admit that.

If it's seen as great, decent, or bad for one group, it should be seen as the same for any other group. The metrics for a hit can't be too low, but they should be agreeable.

I'd disagree on LGO being unpromoted, it got multiple year-end award show performances and a music video.

ON is a hit, plain and simple. It's not like it's everyday you see idol group songs hit 3.7M ULs on Melon. Only a small percentage of idol songs get anywhere near 4M.

Yes, your first point is true. But what I'm arguing is that there is no reason to slam BTS for not matching or surpassing their biggest hits with every release when there have been multiple idol songs from very popular groups that didn't perform well in general in both 2019 and 2020.

Expecting BTS to match or surpass themselves with every song is completely unrealistic. Some of the biggest artists to ever live (like Katy Perry, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, Kanye, etc.) couldn't keep their hit streak going indefinitely. BTS is currently one of the most dominant acts in the world right now, and they have the added disadvantage of not being from Europe or America.

Every song will be on a different level in terms of commercial success.
