    Changed the title of the thread from “What/who got your into kpop?” to “What/who got you into kpop?”.

    Hmmm

    My friends started to recommend me a bunch of K-pop songs randomly hoping one of them would hit. Including many songs that I didn't like in the first listening, but after getting into K-pop I started appreciating.


    I think the first act I really, really liked was Taeyeon. But the first act I hard stanned was EXO. Without EXO I'd probably just be a casual listener of K-pop, they brought me to this world and made me find value in trying to appreciating other K-pop artists from another point of view. For them I started to follow award shows, music shows, hanteo, gaon (rest in peace), digital charts etc.

    I first discover Hyuna

    Cuz i was playing a game and somebody was telling me that "Hyuna" was their cousin and she was starting her career in music


    And i believed her so i gave it a try and didn't like the song a lot


    But i was also a fan of jpop group Perfume at this time

    And while i was watching some of their Mv on youtube i got a recommendation on youtube


    From a bunch of girls in yellow outfit, i thought i was going to discover a new Jpop group


    And turns out this MV was "Mr Taxi" by SNSD


    And i became a kpop fans at exactly 0:38 of Mr Taxi MV


    I don't know why but it was love at first sight and i don't know why i felt the needed of trying to learn more about Sooyoung

    Even if at this moment i didn't like Mr.taxi a lot


    And i end up getting into SNSD and Kpop thanks to Sooyoung

    I used to use last.fm a lot. It was 2009 and I saw someone with an amazing gif avatar of a girl dancing and wearing streetwear. Turned out it was a clip of Minzy from 2NE1 Fire, which had just released.

    Watched one night after seeing some memes/jokes about kpop and deciding to find out what it was about and was hooked.


    Although I had minor exposures before.


    Like seeing the big push at Japanese HMV stores around early 2018'ish maybe for Blackpink, BIG posters of the girls and thinking "they dont quite look like a Jpop group, who are they?"


    Oh and umm... following a Momo picturs/clips account on Instragram... but... not for her musical ability. That made me laugh when I was a few weeks/months in kpop and scrolled past the account and thought "why am I following Momo? Oh yeah... LOL"

    This is the first actual song I heard for a Kpop artist, didn't know it at the time but I was really into Inuyasha as a kid.

    This was the first song I listened to intentionally after watching an AMV in 2009, thought it was just a Jpop group until looking into it a bit more
