If I had to pick a NMIXX B-side from this year, it'd probably be Papillion too. I've probably listened to it as much as I have listened to Know About Me. That whole EP was solid. Ocean and Slingshot too. But Papillion is definitely the chosen one.

but more seriously, even if nmixx has some good songs, i still can't get into them or their music either because i don't find their DELIVERY intersting or specially nice. it's not bad obviously, they're definily on tune but i just find their voices boring.

no offense but it's almost like ai was singing the songs. even if the song is good, the singers don't make me wanna replay them. maybe once or twice if they're REALLY good songs, but i'll forget them the next day.

i don't even understand what is their brand/identity... it's all very blurry. nobody really stands out in the group either except maybe kyujin sometimes. like idk ... meh.

now they did drop the best (group) album this year, it was very intersting and good at times (and spinnin on it is definitly a standout track), but even if i may play some of the songs sometimes, i still don't care about the group whatsoever...if that makes sense.

BUT on the other hand, this solid drop does make me think that jyp is getting back on track again. jyp, tbl (former yg) and potentially the return of og ador (many sm staff) could rise in the industry and potentially become the new BIG 3. njz x meovv x nmixx...(+adp, adorbg)

and then smaller agency gems like atheart, ifeye, rescene + artms, tripls s.

the future of kpop and the birth of the REAL legit gen 5 might actually be the true golden age of kpop if things go well .

Interesting. I think they're uncommonly evocative & emotional. I can't imagine another group delivering High Horse and having it hit. Lily in particular sings with so much soul. Like the climax here absolutely cuts right through me:

I think what makes their voice uninteresting is tone not exactly ability to convey.

To me, a lot of their tone is very airy and dry(?) and not very grounded. I prefer powerful vocals which is why some of my favorite vocalists are Yunjin, Solar, Wheein, Ailee, etc.

Like sure, NMIXX can hit those notes but to me, its like all they have going for them is range.

music/singing can be pretty subjective too at the end of the day and i guess im just not clicking with nmixx. but i'm EXTREMELY selective tho... I skip many (good or bad) singers because i just simply don't connect or vibe with their 'voices/vibes/world' .

this album drop now is very close to my taste overall but their delivery of it doesn't move me more than that...
