What does stage presence mean to you? And what are your favorite stages?

    Lately, stage presence talks have been pretty hot, so now it made me thaught what does stage presence means (to me, or you)? And how comes i'm so drown to some artists more than other?


    Well, maybe for many people stage presence is a mix of many things: confidence, charisma, leadership on stage, being able to commend attention and lead crowds, being expressive and charming, emite that je ne sais quoi that makes you sparkle etc... and i wholhearteadly agree with that.


    But what I would like to add is that alongside all these examples, true stage presence is also defined by PERSONALITY. It's not only about being smug and confident and smile brightly, it's about being able to fascinate crowds with your presence only, with just a slight gaze or small smirk. It's what makes you unique.


    What I personality find myself drown to is not necessarily the flashy type of stage presence, but the magnetic kind. The unique kind. Something I cannot feel watching others. Also i have my favorite concepts, i like cute/quirky/mysterious concepts like Red Velvet for example.


    Regardless, my favorite performers have been Krystal, Hyein, Winter, Taeyeon, Yooa etc... Even tho I know that there are others performers who's presence is more flashy and dominering like Lisa and Jennie for example. Even for Jennie, I prefered her rnb stages (damn right, seoul city) over her rap stages. Eventho i did LOVE everything about Zen and Extral.


    But going further, stage presence is also defined by the overall group performance. The songs/concepts/production/choreos, the group synergy, and their ability to EXECUTE the song well both vocally and dance wise. Like for me, I can hardly enjoy a performance if i don't like the voices of the performers or their songs. And a true performance HAS TO BE LIVE.


    Again im not even drown to flashy vocals, but to vocal tones that i find beautiful and special.

    In conclusion, stage presence and being a good performer can differ from one people's taste to another. Just like we can enjoy different types of visuals or voices or songs, we can also be drawn to different type of performers. That's how some people can say that such and such have no stage presence but millions of others people's clearly disagree as they are glued, captivated and obsessed by said artists and everything they do including their performances. And vis versa.


    Also I personally think that many people can be charismatic, attractive etc but a fiew actually stand out and have real presence as artists.

    I see so many fans, especially of Western artists, bragging abt their faves but ANYONE can swagger around a stage pointin and struttin and waving their arms like a madman with fancy fireworks and stages and background dancers.


    Especially when these "artists" dont have to execute any kind of choreo or sing or rap live since they got autotune mics or lipsync for that. Like wtf are fans paying for when their faves dont dance and use fake vocals or dont even sing at all?


    Stage presence is about talent and putting on a TRUE performance.


    Someone who sings WITHOUT autotune or loud backtracks.

    Someone who doesnt fake it by using lipsyncing over prerecorded tracks.

    For Kpop and other dance genres, that also means someone who knows how to dance and looks like they actually WANT to be on that stage dancing.


    Stage presence takes years, decades to develop since you have to put in the work. For Kpop, that means you have to live In the weight room and eat right in the kitchen, in addition to the hours in the studio. You literally have to train like a pro athlete to have the stamina and endurance to put on high energy shows for your fans. If your body cant handle it, everything including and especially vocals go to hell.


    Here is a boomer example. The stage looks totally empty, no flashy effects or dancers or fireworks, and yet the "main vocal" here, despite being a "visual hole", has literally BILLIONS that know this song completely and utterly captivated from the very first note.


    Of course it doesnt hurt that this visual hole "main vocal" had the greatest male voice in pop music history. :cryc:

    Stage presence is Stray Kids, Stray Kids is stage presence.

    But yes I agree with your definition, charisma, confidence, personality, etc. And you touch on it, but to emphasize: as a group, the synergy and how well their presence work together as a whole is important. Some people might shine a lot alone, but don't work well in the group (or vice versa). Members being able to stand out individually, as well as have good synergy with the others, makes a whole group strong.


    I could write a lot about Hyunjin's captivating and kinda imposing stage presence after seeing SKZ close. But I won't do that rn lol. He is known for it anyway so I'll just say it was impossible to not notice irl.

    Also, after all the drama over certain idols lipsyncing and giving absolutely nothing, I think we can all agree that this has been a breath of fresh air and that she is going viral from not just having an amazing song but also amazing stage presence

    some people do have truly electrifying souls and it shines through their voice and their face and their body when they perform!


    and that's also why i agree so much with you as well, a TRUE performance has to be live! Well not necessarily 100% like back ups vocals or smth, specially when there are very demanding choreos but still at least +80% NO LESS.

    Stage presence to me is being able to make even a nonfan enjoy your performance despite simply watching you behind a screen. It is being able to captivate me so much that I want to rewatch your performance over and over again without getting tired of it. Its also looking like you want to BE there and not like you are being forced to do the bare minimum

    see many people mention yunjin when it comes to stage presence, but smh i always found myself more drown to sakura, i just find her presence more captivating :/ ... like during her center time during i'm a mess mess mess.


    even during izone days, she stood out so much amongst so many girls. if anything she did even more than in sserafim... it's like i didn't like the styling and everything she got in hybe/LSF much, she suited a more feminine concept in my opinion :wellr: .

    short blond bob sakura and long pink hair sakura was PEAK!

    i can only think of these two right now , but in general watching people dance bores me so i don't pay much attention to that aspect
