TWICE JAPAN 6th ALBUM "ENEMY" was directed by member Jihyo. Jihyo participated in the direction of everything from the visuals to the songs and music videos.

  • I'm so in awe of this, this looks like a long teaser of a movie or a scene from a real movie! I love the cinematography and the narration.

I was already looking forward to this album because of the rock styling but this teaser makes me extra excited. Now I want to hear the snippets of the songs or even just the title track :holding-back-tears:

I'm also curious about Jihyo's involvement in it - I remember she said she's taking acting lessons and wants to try acting, maybe that's why she did that? Everytime she tries something new I'm in awe, I wish I had this much motivation myself.

  • I love that Twice hasn't settled into complacency. It's their tenth year anniversary in October, and here we are still witnessing the group's dedication and growth, as a team and as individuals. They've established a working formula, a sure thing, yet they are still open to challenging themselves as we've just observed with the opening to their latest world tour. A lot of effort went into the production of that show. Adapting the performances to the 360-degree stage is no easy feat. Relearning the modified choreography and ignoring the formulaic routines etched into their muscle memory, which for some of their most performed songs would have been quite deeply embedded, deserves respect and praise. It's amazing to see how strong their drive still is, and in some regards, it seems even more robust than when they were hungry rookies.

Seeing Jihyo extend her role like this warms my heart. She did a wonderful job. Even in this capacity, the group and the company putting their trust behind her creative vision is, in a small but wonderful way, an affirmation of her growth as an artist and leader. The opportunity to see an idol's creative input and artistry, whether understated or broad and sweeping, is always exciting and worthwhile to me. It's always a gamble, but you can learn equally from success or failure. Putting yourself out there like that, especially when you don't have to and in many regards is far safer not to, means there is a desire to grow and learn something new about yourself in the first place, so that, in my books, is always worthy of respect.

All this is to say, I very much look forward to what Twice have in store for us.

  • I will watch the trailer later

This should be good. I love their Japanese releases. I thought Dive was album of the year material and MiSaMo always delivers.

It's so nice to see someone also loved Dive album! It's now my favourite Japanese Twice album but I have a feeling though that this one might join it and will be my top 3 with Perfect World. I love their Japanese releases so much, they're always really good, both the title tracks and bsides.

The only downside about the Japanese releases, is the packaging is not as good as their Korean releases. Other than that I love their Japanese releases. I enjoyed with you-th, but Dive was so much better. I hope people didn't ignore it because it was a Japanese releases because there was so many bops on it.

It's weird but I wonder if jype uses a different team for their Japanese releases. I thought Itzy Japanese releases were very good too. Still waiting for Nmixx to get one.Very intrigued how they will handle Nmixx

I agree, the packaging and content of their Japanese albums isn't nearly as good. I know it's always been like that but I wish they had proper photobooks. I especially loved the concept for Dive and thought it was a bit of a waste not to have more photos from it, but I feel like that about all their Japanese albums. The photocards have gotten better in the recent years, because now it's much easier to get the members and not the group, but the photobooks are too small.

I feel like unfortunately a lot of people only tune in for their Korean releases, which shows for example in MV views. I have to say that I didn't like With You-th that much (only the title tracks and one bside, the rest wasn't my taste) but Dive was one of if not my favourite album from last year. I was so happy, because the sound was so different from the Korean comeback, that there was something there for everyone. I have high hopes that they will perform some songs from it on their Japanese This Is For concerts. I know that they've performed Here I Am but I'd love to see more. One of my favourite songs, Love Warning, has a dance break, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one and for Beyond the Horizon for the ballad set :-)

I have to say I have no idea about their teams but it would somehow make sense to have separate ones. Even the promotion cycle is really different in Japan. I started listening to NMIXX only this year, after discovering their latest mini album and absolutely loving it, so I'm excited for any new music from them and will definitely also follow their possible Japanese releases. (Also Fe3O4: Forward also has the ocean theme, like Dive, which maybe one of the reasons I love it so much - the second being fantastic music and vocals :blue-heart: ).

Sorry if my post is a little all over the place. I've had a long day but it's fun to chat about it, I don't think I've ever met anyone else who liked Dive album a lot. :-)

  • np at all with the post

I loved Beyond the Horizon. From memory my top 3 in order was Beyond the Horizon, Ocean Deep, Echoes of My Heart. Love warning is also great and I would love to see them perform that song. Their Japanese stretch of the tour should be interesting because there's a lot of material to cover. I assume they might have MiSaMo perform some of their songs because they're doing well in that market.

Agreed, that many skip Japanese releases. IVE for example Japanese pre-release is only at 2m views on YouTube, and a group like Ive usually gets more first week views. I guess for Japanese releases it attracts less casual listeners, and it's mostly the diehard fans checking them out. Another reason people pay less attention to JP releases because it's more costly to buy albums from there. I think that kills interest for some and they tune out some of the promotion for it which results in missing out on the album.

They for sure have a different team and it makes sense. Sometimes I wish they borrowed some from their jype japan team

MiSaMo's album Haute Coute had an improvement for packaging compared to the other JP releases. So, it seems their taking a step in the right direction. Hopefully they have good packaging for this album.

I wonder which came first, Jeongyeon's cover or this song ?

  • They performed Enemy. My phone is on mute, not sure if I want to spoil it. It's only four more days away. Super tempted though.

For those who are curious, here's some footage:

  • Japanese Once sure got spoiled today. They performed Like 1 during the encore as well.
