SM doesn't cheat as much as other labels and they media play less or not at all. Also, SM doesn't always sign their idols to western labels like YG did for Black Pink 2 years into their career in 2018. BTS signed with Columbia Records for distribution and marketing in 2018 as well. And it's obvious those two groups started growing internationally huge around that time.
I also believe that chart manipulation is a real thing and New Jeans made me suspect this when they all of a sudden flopped immediately they started fighting with Hybe. The general public doesn't just stop listening to peoples' music simply because they want independence from their label. In any case, they'd get more support. Which means, the label probably stopped cheating for them the moment they fell out of it's favour.
Only SuperM came close to a proper Western push with Capital Records but it all stopped in a year or so. They debuted, toured and left.
NCT 127 was pushed a bit too but probably not to the level of BTS and BP.
SM needs to sign their idols to Western labels to ensure better distribution and marketing of their music like other labels do if they are to grow huge globally. SM idols have the best fandoms because it's the fans that hard carry them to success.
it's gonna take off
