  • I'm getting reminded of when a woman from my country performed in an outfit a bit similar to this at an award show.

My mom was saying stuff like "They complain about sexual harassments, but wear outfits like this?"

Meanwhile I was only thinking "Oh boy, I hope there won't be any wardrobe malfunctioning happening"

Don't you find it weird that a lot of people think it's the fault of the person dressing a specific way and never the fault of the person doing the sexual harassing.

Well... my mom does believe that it is the fault of the sexual harasser, but she still doesn't like it when women are wearing clothes that she finds too revealing and she most likely also wouldn't approve of Kwon Eunbi's outfit.

I disagree with your mom, but it isn't a surprising opinion. I just hope you or your mom recognize that this type of logic taken to its natural conclusion could be used to say women need to be completely covered head from toe or not allowed outside of the house.

It used to be seen in my culture in the Middle Ages up until the early modern period that Christian women especially upper-class noble women should at all times wear a head covering or veil, and it was generally not allowed for women of good standing or from noble households to be in the presence of a man outside of their family alone. Until about 50 years ago women could not get loans, bank accounts, credit etc under their own name without a male guardian.

I am a bit torned in this, because while i do think wearing sexy clothes doesn't give anyone the right to sexually harras you or even do more, so i would definitely not victim blame someone for example in a bar or club getting harrased by some guy trying to get laid or stuff like that just because she is wearing sexy clothes i also would find it a bit hypocrital for example if someone is performing a song wearing sexy clothes doing sexy dance moves and then be bothered if comments are like "god she is so freaking sexy" or other thirst comments as long as they don't cross a line

Your comment seems reasonable to me.

Agreed. Eunbi is a grown ass woman, almost 30 years old at this point. There's no way she was forced to come back to WB and wear a bikini top and dance sexy without her approval. She should expect and know that she'll get a lot of Sydney Sweeney like comments her way and be mature about it. Just own it, she is literally Sakura's body goals.

  • I guess next time I will make Baekho or Loco my sig, pretty sure no one will complain then

i didn't ask you to change it, i was just asking.

I agree with you but it's also a matter of simply not viewing public figures in a sexual way. There's often a string of parasocial thoughts that accompanies that view, and its a nobrainer how thats just weird.

I also believe in letting people wear whatever they want if they are comfortable with it but in kpop, its also a case of the fans being civil in how they view a public figure. Especially idols who are generally very often sexualized.

And saying this might seem hypocritical of me seeing as ive openly thirsted on idols but there's also a boundary that I never have and never will cross while doing that. And the same should go for the fans that need to remember that no matter how attractive an idol might be, they did not become idols to be viewed that way. As a matter of fact no one wants to be viewed that way even if they intentionally wear clothes with minimal coverage, they did not do that to become objectified or sexualized.

An example of this is that there's a line and very clear difference between stating that Eunbi is body goals, has a fit, ideal, or attractive body and just straight up constantly highlighting a specific part of her body and intentionally drawing attention to it while putting up a front that "she dressed that way so she must not care how people view her."

Thats just what I think, though so nobody has to agree.

  • You are able to put similar thoughts to mine in better words.

  • no one wants to be sexually harassed

  • dawg w‍hy did y‍ou make the video your sig

I guess next time I will make Baekho or Loco my sig, pretty sure n‍o o‍ne will complain then

In order to speed up my forum browsing experience, I normally have the "Display members’ signatures" option set to "N‍o". I specifically turned it to "Yes" based on these comments, but was disappointed to find n‍o E‍unbi signature in sight.

  • always glad to see an artist I love being recognized even if not for what it should /really/ be (come on, her music slaps why does everyone keep sleeping on it  )

the usual pervs and creeps flocking to her close-up fancams is.. ew to say the least, no surprise there. but I don't see why anyone should baby a 30 yo woman who clearly is doing what she wants and is happy with it (+ getting money and deals from it). this is not a fancam of a barely of age gg member with tight/uncomfortable clothing taken against her will, I hope people understand the difference. either way, all women should be respected equally regardless.

    with that said,

My mom was saying stuff like "They complain about sexual harassments, but wear outfits like this?"

this is such a problematic stance and it’s so deeply rooted in society that people think they’re somehow excused by saying stuff like “obviously I always support the victim, never the perpetrator"... but then they go on and say things like this which completely contradicts that. like, as if a woman’s right to be respected and not sexually harassed needs to be earned by dressing or behaving modest. let’s leave that way of thinking in the 20th century pls (this is a message to people who say stuff like op’s mom did, not op obviously)
