Oh, and there WERE sensitive idiots complaining about the clothes in the photo.
I'm under the impression the main issue is his hair.

You go do that then.

yep, i'm not on that forced hate train...i'll make my own decision based on what comes next
woochan and jj were supposed to debut in trainee a man fuck this
This is gonna be interesting
Only north Americans care about. I already posted in another thread. We have "African hair salon", the owner is African woman and she's the hairstylist too. Everyone here is white.

Happy for you!

Well, it's not like everyone thinks alike. African, African-Americans, Black people... they're not a monolith. But also Black North American's feelings/opinions aren't suddenly invalid because apparently nobody else cares about it.
Though, honestly, regardless of whether or not it's cultural appropriation... "Tarzzan" looks chopped. A mess.

That deflects attention from Annie, a real daughter of the Chaebol, and a niece(once removed) of the Samsung owner Jay Lee.
Wow, I wasn't aware of this at all. Consider me deflected.
Her privilege doesn't erase how ridiculous "Tarzzan" is though.
It is better for her since Tarzzan will deflect all the criticism.
She is going to be the richest idol of all time, and I wonder how her relationship with other members will develop.
Where is Chita?
This guys insta the very mid 2000s kpop cringe.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset, I'm saying that a lot of people don't care. We'll see how it goes
can they just replace him? he's ruining the group's images already, it's annoying. they did nothing wrong, worked hard to debut, and have to face their debut being scandalized because of two guys no one even cared about until now. I feel like I've talked enough about kpop's rampant CA and i'm quite tired of repeating the same things. but also following Tory Lanez?? that's a new one..

Yeah, I've seen how disappointed people are especially because there was hype around Bailey and that former ILLIT girl (sorry I forgot her name...) debuting. And now their debut is associated with... this guy.
Tbh I don't see a problem with the name Tarzzan, but I understand the problem with the ca allegations. I don't know who is the problematic man he is following either so I can't comment about it.

Tarzan is a regular name here in gipsy community lol. Montenegrins had a diplomat called Tarzan Milošević, he's not a gipsy. I see nothing wrong with the name lol

He was convicted and sentenced to 10 years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. Despite the evidence, many people are being misogynistic to Megan and calling her a liar and calling for Tory to be freed.

The name itself is fine, there's nothing wrong with being named Tarzan or the movie character being named as such. But to some people, people find it either corny (like how Namjoon used to go by Rap Monster vibes) OR suspicious - culturally appropriating African Americans then making your persona a character who lives in a Jungle then referencing said Jungle on social media. Yes, the character Tarzan is white, but some people find these things to be a bit... odd to say the least.
2025 is a weird year for black fans. It feels like every month there's a new controversy . I have no clue what Teddy was thinking including this guy in the group because these groups is most likely in trouble before they debut. I feel bad for the other members because I am seeing a lot of posts on twitter and reddit.
I said it in the other thread but why don't they just include a person with African descent because jpop seems to be able to do that. I never got the sense in jpop where they treated artist or members in a group poorly. I am just unsure how it would be treated in kpop.

I doubt they think much about it at all, unfortunately. It's very sad because I've seen a lot of Black fans lose their interest in kpop all together because of these seemingly constant issues.

People like to overthink and complain. He's not going to act like Tarzan on stage. He just likes the name and he uses it. He likes the hairstyle, he wears it. That's literally that. Tarzan is a white boy written by a white author. I don't even understand the issue.

That's happening to me. I still like the groups I like, but interest overall is declining.

The issue is that many people consider this to be an insult to their culture. It's not up to people who aren't a part of that culture to tell them their feelings are invalid. Even within this specific Black culture, some don't mind the braids or the name, but others do. This person's reply covers it:
They are Black and they personally aren't offended. That's valid, they are more than entitled to their feelings especially as a person who is a part of this culture. However, they're also acknowledging that if a Black person is offended, don't speak down on their feelings. Because them taking offense is also valid and it wouldn't be right to invalidate their hurt.

Im not talking about braids. I'm talking about braids and Tarzan combo. He's not going to act like tarzan on stage. Braids or not, it's just his name. I don't understand why would name even be an issue. Yes, you told me why but that doesn't make sense.
I am only repeating the concerns I've seen from many Black kpop fans. It's not up to one Black person or another - but it's especially not up to non-Black people. Racism/ignorance is not always intentional, either. He could have done all of this and have not realized the correlations.
Everyone is aware Tarzan is white. Everyone is aware Tarzzan is Korean. But I don't think it's a reach to see that,
Black people are compared to gorillas and are inappropriately associated with jungles -> Tarzan is, while white, a guy raised in a jungle amongst gorillas -> a Korean starts to appropriate Black hairstyles -> also goes by Tarzan.
So even if this was not his intention, these stereotypes still exist and are strung together by his actions.

Where I’m from in the Netherlands they won’t necessarily think it’s offensive. However, you’ll most likely get made fun off or get called desperate because it’s cringy to pretend you’re another race
