  • why are you acting as if this is something new?

SM did something similar with Giselle's video and it seems RCA/LLoud is doing the same with a clip of Lisa

Not saying it's right, but you would think it's your first day in kpop. Hybe is sleazy, but they are not pioneers in these type of moves.

  • why are you acting as if this is something new?

SM did something similar with Giselle's video

SM deleted the scene from the vlog cuz it was insensitive to people who might look the vlog after the controversy

but trust me they didn't copyright tweets that exposed her for playback the n word on social media to delete all proof of her doing it

here is the original tweet from 2021 who exposed the situation and the video and tweet is still here

actually the day SM decide to do like HYBE and copyright this video it would be great cuz i keep seeing this video pops up on my TL every two days everytime someones brought back BTS problematic behavior

the response of Army is always to repost this vid or talk about giselle as if she never apologize, even if it's not a MY who brought back their controversy

so the day SM do it i'll thank god for them to finally do a good job

  • Hybe is far from the first company to copyright strike something that makes their artists look bad, and I don't necessarily think that's bad at all, but a Spotify screenshot? And the aavefails video, do they even have the rights to that if most of it was fantaken or from vlive?

I must say the spotify screenshot is what surprised me the most

cuz it's not even a kpop fans account who posted it but a billie eillish chart account

and who think of copyright a spotify screenshot, "Who" was already a meme for many kpop stans because how obvious the payola was for this song

but now it makes this song even more questionnable if Hybe does moves like this

sooo.. you're annoyed by people constantly bringing up that video in response to other controversies and you would be happy if SM decided to copyright it? so the issue with hybe doing it is..?

anyway, like others already said in here, it still doesn't change the fact that Hybe isn't the only company to do this. It's questionable, but like you said, it's very annoying to see people bringing this up each time their faves get criticized or into a controversy.

it was ironic, if this video really annoyed me i wouldn't be here posting it in the thread to make it even more visible for people who potentially never saw it and bring more critics to giselle -_-

i actually don't mind this video and i actually think it's great that they do nothing to delete it from social media

first cuz social media is a space where freedom of speech should be use

and second of all like i said in my poll, i would find the apology from Giselle very hypocrite if she apologies and then SM go to copyright strike every post using this video

it would look like they just apologies to ease fans mind but do not care

i like the fact that these type of content are available on internet

    1. Because it makes Kpop idols more human = they are humans so they messed up too in the past and aren't perfect human who never do anything wrong
    2. Because like i said they messed up and if they are truly sorry they should own it to their mistake and just move on and become better person not delete ever proof of their bad mistake to continue their life acting like they never messed up and create a fake narrative to kpop stans
    3. it makes kpop idols looks less hypocrite by not doing this cuz by apologizing they are meant to take responsability for their actions and it loose all it sense to apologies if then you go and delete everything to act like you never did anything wrong actually
  • It’s honestly my first time seeing a copyrighted tweet of spotify screenshot. Even that aave struggle tweet, I didn’t know they can copyright it.

The only copyright tweets I see time to time are those clips that is taken from official source that is unedited.

  • It's not just a kpop thing and many companies in the entertainment industry scrub controversial material. If we're looking at this from a business perspective, then it's smart to scrub content. Idols getting caught saying derogatory terms, and it's quickly forgotten until antis want to use clip to defend their faves.

I would prefer content not to get scrubbed because it's better to know if you should support an idol or not. I fully understand why a company has to protect an idol because certain actions could be a career-ender. I am surprised some idols recovered and I feel a lot of time there's remorse when it happens. When those moments happen it's up to the affected group if they forgive an idol or not.

In conclusion, I agree that company should scrub content, but as a fan I disagree with the action

Well the thing is that it have a contrary inverse

They try to delete the content

But because they delete the content and people are talking about it

More people are looking to see what was the problematic thing that they try to completely erase from people mind
