Would you still be into kpop if it was racially diverse?

  • racially diverse kpop 18

The result is only visible to the participants.

Assuming if Korea magically became racially diverse like America or Singapore and the groups looked like VCHA, Katseye and BLACKSWAN rather than Itzy, Aespa and NewJeans. But everything else like the Korean songs, fan culture, reality shows was the same. Personally I wouldn't be into it because its not what I signed up for. Sometimes there's comfort in homogeneity, and that's one of the appeals of kpop in a diverse world.

  • Hmmm

sure, but because it’s not , now if they try and diverse it , it just looks corny

Like, especially those weirdo White Russians that keep trying to invade Korea with their ugly ass faces.

    I’d be creeped out.

  • Absolutely!!! How cool would that be! Plus it could boost the kpop industry with more viewers and bring new fans which will bring in lots of money! Companies do like money. Besides this strategy will make kpop even more popular worldwide and maybe South Korea can understand different culture's and religions.

Plus we can see different color and skin tones and not just one look that is pale lol. I doubt this will actually happen but hey who knows!? Expect the unexpected lol 😄

  • I love KATSEYE and their music direction, so it's great when done right. Whether the group is diverse or not has nothing to do with it. I've seen all-Korean groups that don't appeal to me because the music production is poor, the MVs look cheap, etc.

Another example of a diverse group I like is X:IN. All of the members are great, but I'm drawn to the Indian member and Russian member the most based on vocals, rap, and dance.

Ideally, I'd like an equal balance of diverse groups and predominantly Korean groups. I've seen how foreign members teach Koreans and K-pop fans new things, helping people understand and appreciate their culture. There's a lot of value in that.

  • No I don't think so. I can "accept" the groups have a few members from other neighbouring contries and maybe some odd member from the rest of the world in some group. One of the point with kpop for me is that it should be mainly a korean/asian thing, not a world mix.

  • Yeah Personally i think what attract me the most to Kpop is the concept of Boygroup and Girlgroup

being asian or not, i don't really care

i always loved GG like Little Mix, Flo, Fifth Harmony, Boy's World, Zgirls

And i love Katseye, Blackswan, DearAlice so i don't really care if we see more diversity in the korean entertainement industry

even if i don't really consider Katseye or DearAlice as Kpop

  • No. American industry[aka the global scene of music] is dominated by White and Black people with a sprinkle of Latinos. There's no need for "representation" like how some love to complain. You have the worldiwde stage, the "prestigious/important" one. Going after kpop is greedy as hell. I don't see any of them caring(and advocating) how there's no Asians there yet expecting your own representation in kpop is next level of entitlement(those kind of people exist).

That's why I love kpop. I'm not even East/SEA(still Asian) but it's still nice to see an Asian representation getting love somewhere.

Also Non-Asians in kpop look weird af, idc

If you’re non Korean or non East Asian and have this opinion, you’re a freak. And y’all should keep some thoughts to yourself without telling on yourself.

    stfu

I'm non EA/SEA Asian and I still want kpop to stay Asian. We will share whatever we want, especially when the question was about what we want.

You are all unanimously freaks and I stand by that.

The objectification of East Asians by western society is nothing new and you’re just more concretely displaying that sentiment.

This OP frequently makes misogynistic and racist threads throughout their time at AKPOP so if you’re agreeing with this OP generally you will fall in that category as well.

Anyway I have no reason to talk to a bunch of freaks on AKP so by all means proudly tell on your selves.
