What is kpop’s biggest threat?

Personally I would say they're their own worse enemy, In short, Greed. I feel like nowadays kpop tries to be catchy or on trend and misses out on the passion in music, like timeless art. They would much rather have an average song that people talk about but dies a month later, than great meaningful/ relatable song that might not get as much hype at the beginning, but will always be a classic tune. It's why more companies just release singles, they don't want timeless results, they want fast results.

How does this affect kpop overall? Will people lose interest bc of it?

Hit and Miss, I think people will fall out of love with it, but at the same time newer fans will join for the trend. Negative overall though, if your gaining fans but losing at the same rate, you're not gaining anything, technically they're stuck in the same place. It wouldn't help as well if kpop lost loyal fans and gained fans only interested in what's trending cause as everyone knows, the trend changes every other week

I don't know... just ignore what I said please........

Success and growth. Like are local groups gonna stop kpop as we know it or at least make it less successful

Kpop has already grown in an unbelievable way. Who could have predicted that boyband music sung in Korean of all languages would ever become the 7th largest music genre in the world?
The biggest threat to it is its own popularity. If Kpop ever became big enough to threaten UMG, Warner, and Sony in the US (ie Kpop songs routinely charting in Hot 100, radio stations getting inundated with requests for Kpop songs, etc), you can bet that these behemoths will do what needs to be done to take it down.

KPop already survived 11 years of assault by IU, probably the greatest soloist Korean pop ever produced. It can survive anything
-
Lost of innovation, stagnation in creativity department.
Kpop's is more appreciated for its performance and visual presentation. Unless it innovate in its music department, the novelty will die off. Cpop will catch up (in the visual department), Jpop has their creativity in spade, Kpop will lose ground.

But that is K-Pop. It's Western pop regurgitated with some pretty outfits and good choreos. It's about the spectacle. Anyone who has a passion for music would probably rather be a legit artist, not go into a K-Pop factory for years hoping they make it onto the conveyor belt. There's a reason why regular Koreans don't take any notice of most of the groups, they're a half step up from kiddy entertainers.

A few years ago I'd have said that international fans would never follow a Chinese pop group because of the dicey political implications. Now I know that stans will be apologists for almost anything if there is a dreamy Asian man of their racial preference with hard abs involved. I've seen white stans turn racist because a girl from one part of Asia got more popular than a girl from another part of Asia. I've seen people turn homophobic because they're mad about a ship. Values fly out of the window when hormones are involved. Maybe it will be China's answer to Jungkook who finally helps cement the next world power...

The lack of interest by the korean GP.

To be fair Arabs always watched US entertainment and followed their celebrities even in the darkest times regardless of celebs political stance. So I’d say it’s not only hormones but people don’t want to associate entertainment with politics.
