i hope he’s okay mentally because this is exactly the type of self destructive behavior i partook in when i was manically depressed.

him being alone while doing that is kind of concerning. i hope he’s surrounded by love and people who care about him as he navigates this.

Honestly, good point. It could be self destructive. I have zero sympathy for ppl who drink and drive a car or motorcycle but this is just a scooter. He's not gonna hurt anyone with a scooter lol, but he can hurt himself. If he hits a car, they're perfectly fine, but he could get seriously injured.

I drunk scootered once. I was a bit drunk, alone, a bit too far from station for walking and there was one of those hire scooters. Not my finest moment but got to the station fine.

But there wasn't much to state of mind beyond "hahaha I should take this scooter home it'll be funny". Nothing else going on mental state wise.

Sometimes, drunk people just do silly shit.

On Tuesday night (June 6), Suga used an electric scooter while wearing a helmet while returning home after drinking alcohol. After traveling about 500 meters, he fell while parking, and was given a ticket and license revocation as a result of a sobriety test by police officers who were nearby. The incident did not result in any personal injury or property damage, and he returned home under police escort.

Wait, they took away his drivers license (for a car) because he drove an electric childhood scooter drunk?

Like if it was an electric scooter with a seat? Maybe you could make an argument, but this is just crazy.

Those scooters are popular in major cities, because they can be used while drunk and not have to use a car.

i come with a heavy and sorry heart to you guys <through weverse> due to a disappointing event.

last night after drinking at dinner, i went home by riding an electric scooter. I violated the road traffic laws due to me thinking easily that it’s close distance and not recognizing that it is not allowed to ride an electric scooter after drinking. While parking my electric scooter at the front gate in front of my place, I fell by myself, and there was a police officer near by and as a result of drinking, my license has been revoked and i’ve been fined. there wasn’t anyone who got hurt or facilities that have been damaged but, this is an inexcusable responsibility of mine so i bow my head and apologize to everyone. i apologize to those who have gotten hurt because of my carelessness and wrong action and from now on and forward, i will be more and more careful with my actions so nothing like this will happen.

His license got revoked because you need one to ride an electric scooter in South Korea.

I despise drunk drivers because I lost a dear friend because of one; he crashed his car into my friend’s car when she was driving home and killed her instantly. let me edit that I am still disappointed in Suga for this. Drunk driving isn’t OK ever.

Having said that an e-kickback scooters is not the same as a scooter - motorbike type and this incident didn’t hurt or damage anyone but himself.

The sensational headlines made it seem he was driving an electric scooter like the bikes and not a kickback. Expected.

and the “is under investigation” implying what?!? When in the news he was already fined and received punishment and this incident is from JUNE!! Ugh.

I hope he’s OK - he has been serving quietly via social work and this does warrant some disciplinary action re service code etc. not the news I hoped to hear and I hope Suga is well.

Yes the type he rode was not like a motorcycle. But the reason they got the same regulations as cars is because the accident rates here in Korea. The accident rates are 5.4% higher than car accidents and a 4.3x fatality rate. Though his accident was minor, it could have been much worse. Hope he learns from this and be more careful
