Group fans are under no obligation to support members solo projects

  • Someone had to say this lol

Welcome to the #real talk :!:

As I said, group fans aren't under any obligation to support or like all solo projects. They are primarily there for group content, they fell in love with a group and they like groups music.

When members decide to branch out in solo career at most they can expect from these type of fans is visibility and that they will stick around for their solo music only if they like it. The moment members start solo work it is like debuting all over again, they have to build their own following.

This also works other way around, although I think that akgaes have more reason to check out group projects simply because their fav appears in it, they are also not obligated to like or support it.

    Rant over!

  • I agree. Im a blink first and when they were still under YGE i would choose a BP cb over any BP solo music.

Now they aren't with YGE anymore and it's not like YGE treated them good music wise so blinks not supporting them 4 isn't a surprise, but I'm still glad the fandom is willing to give them a chance in their solo career.

Lisa thanking Lilies it's bc she is "re debuting" again as a solo artist and she needs her own fandom. Rosé asking a fandom name too.

    Your point is right.

  • exactly this is common sense lol. I don't get why it's so hard to understand. you don't owe these idols a life of blind dedication. you should just listen to whatever you like and consume the content you prefer without added pressure.

that's why I avoid interacting with kpop fandoms in social spaces. I don't need strangers or other people dictating what I should or shouldn't do especially when it comes to a hobbie like kpop :skull:

I actually made this thread with her recent situation in mind. That + some discussions I saw in my own fandom.

Solo career is separate from group career and I need more people to realize this. I also need more idols to realize this as well.

I hate pressure that's put on fand, we can't cut ourselves in billion parts to keep up with everything.

If I like a group for their r&b music then don't be suprised if I am not into music of a member who does hiphop music for example.

Solo fans annoy me as well. They go around saying how they don't need group fans but when solo doesn't pull numbers they expected they are like 😵 and then they whine for days lol

Kpop fans in general annoy the hell out of me with their entitlement and jobless-ness. Imagine losing sleep over your faves charts and streaming their music 183773 times like it's your own job. I prefer touching grass and muting these stans on twitter.

Reveluvs for example have been so insufferable these days with their whining and casual xenophobia. I've been on a blocking/muting spree since Cosmic was announced. :skull:

Oh!! Yeah, like I liked rockstar, her style is good to me, but I liked Jisoo and Jennie solos more so my dedication will go when I actually like the song.

I'll support them bc I'm really a stan kkkk, but if they release a song I don't vibe much I'll just skip the song era without feeling guilty. In the end I'm here for the music.

Ah I am familiar with phase RV and their fans are going through.

I think this tweet sums it up perfectly

~ Retired exol, don't ask me about that group. ~

Period! Exactly as we all should!

  • One thing about solo career, the members aren't gonna achieve the same thing. Solo projects also based on the members taste in music so could it be experimental and vastly different from the group music you like.

True, if someone is rnb fan and they like a group who predominantly has that type of music, if members decide to branch out into heavy metal.... well then damn lol

I always think that Nayeon pop (FOR EXAMPLE) was so successful because it resembles twice sound and vibe gp loved so much.

~ Retired exol, don't ask me about that group. ~

  • I like all of the EXO member's solo music, but still I totally agree. And as much as I love the solos, people also need to accept for some people only group music can satisfy that craving for group music (which should be obvious, but I see way too many people jumped on twitter for saying that they want a new EXO album).

  • True but I hate it when fanbases and big accs on twt start preaching about supporting all members "being a real fan" while not supporting the whole group as soloist. Stop schooling.

I agree with you, members who follow the same genre or work with the group producers always turn out to be the most successful because it aligns with the taste of fandom, it's a huge risk to switch up genres and change the image they were given in the group.

  • I agree with this. I did not buy every solo release from BTS members and some I supported more than others because I like that style of music more or I appreciate the artist's philosophy more. I buy most everything that the rapline puts out but I'm not as consistent with the vocal line. I actually prefer dance music, so Face got a lot of play but Tae's vocal style is often my least favorite, so I only bought one digital copy of Layover and still haven't listened to all of it. I actually love that style of jazz, but I prefer a different vocal style.

  • i agree.

the music a group produces is completely different from that of a solo member.

i stan 127 for their music, and at the same time i stan yuta, but i am not here for the other member's solo careers and i don't see anything wrong with that.

i also don't like it when i can't solo stan someone from a group i don't care about.

When people say that they want exo album fans immediately jump them and say "we already had X solo albums, they are working hard and you guys show no support" and I am like... that's not the point! :skull:

True, in exo Baekhyun and Kai do the mkst rnb and so far mkst group fans like their solos.

    So annoying fr fr :skull:

You are even buying albums you don't listen, you are very generous.

  • When most of the group gets the acting disease and you have to unstan altogether bc they suck at it:drinktears:

When the best vocals go solo and only do basic ballads :drinktears:

    1. I lucked out with exo, they act well but I am on a fence with some of theor projects. Anyway, when you are only acting you are not an idol for me #sowrry

    2. Most lf them can dance but they would rather stand dressed as English teachers than drop bangers!

What on Earth are you yapping about? RV fans aren't chart-obsessed streaming farms. We're too old for that shit. We just enjoy their content like normal humans, and I haven't seen any "whining" (outside of the completely deserved criticism of SM) or "casual xenophobia" (who would we even be xenophobic to? All the members are the same nationality!) Cosmic also isn't a solo project, so I have no idea what their relevance is to this thread.

I know AKP denizens think they can get away with slandering RV fans scot-free since there aren't many of us left here, but I ain't having any of that. If you're going to try to slander us, you better be prepared to bring receipts, and not from that cesspool of humanity now known as "X."

Clearly you're not on twitter :pepe-life-support:

  • Clearly you're not on twitter :pepe-life-support:

Why would I be? It's a complete cesspool, like I said. If you'd like me to go there and grab receipts of your own fandoms acting a fool, I'm sure I can do that. Probably wouldn't take long at all. Who knows, I may even find some of your own tweets. Why you're trying to slander all RV fans based on some typical fan war nonsense you saw on Twatter is beyond me.

  • I totally agree.

Also, it's ok to dislike something from your bias. Just because someone is your bias doesn't mean you should force yourself to like everything they put out. This is an entertainment industry ffs. If you're not entertained, don't bother.

  • I mostly do support solo music unless I really don't like it, but I don't think people must do the same

yeah, I agree with this and don't see why Blinks gave Lisa hate for using Lilies.

They are going their own way with perhaps a comeback in some undetermined future as a group.
