What would you consider an ideal release interval for a top girl group?

  • If you release albums too often, you risk oversaturating the public and negatively impacting your listeners, who may get tired of your music.

If you take too long between releases, not only is it possible the public will lose interest, but more importantly to me, your core fans are left starving and desperate for new music.

So what do you think IS the ideal timing? I suspect this is one of those thing nobody will be able to agree on.

I hope the references in the two examples I used above were obvious

  • i think every five months for groups that outsource their music. idle's case is different since they write their own stuff so they can go at whatever pace they want

  • Regular artists, every 6 months or more, maybe even in a year+. For KPOP. As often as you can. Because GP has an attention span of a gold fish. If you're not releasing, you're not relevant. Too many competitions. Too many groups debuting within a year.

  • I am was released in may i think

    Baddie in october

So ig 5 months lol im lazy to count rn

I was too lazy to Google it, so I can't judge.

Haven't Dives already narrowed down the next likely release window for their next album, based on their touring schedule?

I don't remember what that date is, but it will probably be in that 6-7 month range

  • Regular artists, every 6 months or more, maybe even in a year+. For KPOP. As often as you can. Because GP has an attention span of a gold fish. If you're not releasing, you're not relevant. Too many competitions. Too many groups debuting within a year.

I guess a good question would be if BlackPink would be as successful in 4th gen if they used the same release timing strategy they relied on during 3rd gen?

  • For young groups, I'd say change between 2 and 3 comebacks a year. The year you're doing 3 you can release a repack, a single like NJ did with OMG or some kind of side project (a bit promoted, not randomly drop a song with no promo like Ive just did last month for example) so you don't have to put that much effort.

Anything above 8 months is a mistake imo, but once groups turn 4-5 years it's understandable the hiatus are longer.

  • Mamamoo once did 4 mini albums in just over one year, with the goal of releasing an album per season.

    Yellow Flower

    Red Moon

    Blue Sun

    White Wind

It was actually one of their best eras ever, if not their most successful overall, but it also followed a year where they had only released one album (Purple; 2017).

I guess it can vary wildly year to year, if executed properly.

  • Is the first one NewJeans?

Two comebacks per year seems fair, especially if you're also touring. But I'd still like to see groups release full albums more often, maybe once every other year.
