I still remember when P48 1st came out, there was an ex-YG trainee who was "almost in BlackPink".
She was one of the most hyped members of the show. Everyone was watching out for her...
Sis was terrible. She couldn't dance. She couldn't really sing. Nothing about her was exceptional or made her seem like she was on the debut line-up in one of the biggest agencies for one of the biggest groups.
There's a reason why Hyein was chosen and these girls weren't.

I've seen some folks on TW saying that at least one of the trainees was in her 20's? Maybe that's why, maybe MHJ wanted Minji to be the oldest and leader (i remember a similar thing happened with Gaeun in Produce 48, my gut feeling is that MNET wanted Eunbi to be the oldest and leader which is why Gaeun was left out even though she had the votes).
But folks on TW be acting like this is a huge controversy lol, saying one trainee was left out cause she's Japanese and NJ already filled their diversity quota with Dany and Hanni, or claiming age discrimination, or whatever. It's not a big deal, casting is literally the most important part of any Kpop group, MHJ deserved to be given the freedom to choose whoever the heck she wanted that would fit into the group's concept, mesh well with the other members, etc.

well to be honest i watche both Niziu project & GP999 and i don't remember thiss girl
so i understand why she didn't make the cut for NJ, she probably doesn't have the it factor to stand out
I didn't watch Niziu so I don't know about that
But for GP999 or any show at least it really boils down to screentime.
Like Shen Xiaoting was literally bottom ranking back in CHUANG but was literally top few in every single episode in GP999
Sometimes it really depends highly on whether they want to show you or not

Yeah before Newjeans came out, in interviews, MHJ always emphasizes the groups would be only teenagers and would be fresh, which makes people really mad because it discriminates against older trainees. I mean it’s kinda wrong to drop a talented trainee just because she’s not a teenager anymore

Even Yunjin from Le sserafim said that she trained with Newjeans members but she never claimed that she was supposed to be a member of Newjeans

Did you know? I was also training with NewJeans.
I auditioned for Source Music, since Chaewon, my Iz*one bias, was supposed to debut there, but Min Heejin also saw my audition and wanted me to train at ADOR.
I was part of the original debut team, but then Hanni auditioned, and Hyein became a trainee, and first, Min Hee Jin thought of making NewJeans a 6-member group, but then she decided, that I was too young to debut, since I was even younger than Hyein.
Somehow, YG entertainment got involved, as Min Hee Jin is good friends with Yang Hyun-Suk.
They asked me to become a YG trainee, since their group would debut a few years later, and I would be older, but my Parents disagreed, since they knew about Yang Hyun-Suks scandals and past.
At the end, I had to leave Korea and started to live as a normal teenager again.
I finally found my passion, which is Writing, and now, my goal is to publish my 400-pages Novel next year! -
