I'm really surprised what a roller coaster the 4th gen has been
I'm really surprised what a roller coaster the 4th gen has been
You know my answer
Display More#1 is easy.
There is a fight for #2 with IVE in the lead.
The question is, when will NJ be the top GG over all, with out the need to have the 4th generation qualifier.
good question..Another good question is: how long does a girl group have to be number one to be considered the top of their generation (aespa golden era flashbacks)
EVERGLOW 4eva letsGOOO
Are they consider 4th gen? Real question

Well this whole "top of the generation" is just a 4th Generation thing.
It used to be you were the top group or not.
But 4th Gen stans knew that they could not compete vs BTS/BP and at that time Twice, so the whole best of the 4th generation was created.
4th Gen groups are taking over the top for sure, but some 3rd and older gens still hold top spots in my opinion, including the very top spot.

Well, let's see if BP renews the contract or not, that should put a final answer to that question... with BP and BTS (as a group) out of the picture, then another top group will solidify
Unless they deliver another next level type of success, I think they'll be remembered as one of the best, but not quite there, just like RV... But vocal wise they are on top, no doubt

they are number one !! no arguments !!
On pace is the key term...after all the roller coaster ride from GGs debut so far, I'm still skeptical... "biggest act in kpop" I guess that's a reach, but who knows, they might be stable on their growth and take over
Don’t forget about baby monsters, I think they’ll go very far.
Also I’d put my money on either NewJeans, IVE, Aespa, IDLE or Le Sserafim.

God knows when baemon will debut, at this rate they will be a 5th gen group
NJs is in front currently and by a mile.
However in my opinion, their current concept and song style will not be effective globally long term, since it is hard to see 50k people in every major city wanting to go to see 2 hrs of easy listening songs.
In 2 to 3 years, I believe there will be at least 2 top 4th groups at the BP and Twice level. Baby Monster will be one. The other(s) is still to be decided.
newjeans and le sserafim

LSFM before IVE? IDK dude
I'm really surprised what a roller coaster the 4th gen has been
No (G)I-DLE, list invalid.
LSFM before IVE? IDK dude
Oh yeah
No (G)I-DLE, list invalid.
I've always thought of them as more 3rd gen even if they bleed over a little
U mean after NJ ?
Cause they just solidified their #1 spot last month
I've always thought of them as more 3rd gen even if they bleed over a little
So they don't get put on any 3rd gen lists, they don't get put on any 4th gen lists.
Idle - the generation unto itself.
as usual the question isn't so much who is the no.1 but rather the metrics and criteria and weighting used to calculate how is no. 1
otherwise it's just a "my favs" kind of argument

3.5th gen

Now that you are saying, I will believe Hardy

Well, with 4th gen, everytime one group does something other group comeback and breaks it, metrics and criteria are difficult in this gen

which is why posts like these are effectively meaningless
every has different standards of what is "top"
let's just look at albums sold right (which I think everyone can agree is just one metric to be considered)
does one look at total albums? look at albums per comeback? albums per year/per month? what if said group releases more than one version of an albums? digipacks? do we try to look at album sales?

you are purposely ruining the fun, the main point of this thread is to watch people being passive-aggressive in the comments....

Look at the screenshot of my man Steve Choi. UL counts are on the X Axis of this chart, check where IVE is, they cleared NJ and everyone tbh.
Ive is the biggest act in Korea.
Now, if you're talking globally or the most "trendy", then NJ is your answer.

Forget it....That is it, everybody out of my party

Like I used to say, Ive is like Twice and Nj is like Bp. But seeing how Nj moves, they might become Twice+Bp with a lil bit sprinkle of Bts on the top.

Oh Hello House
Have seen Hybe Boy just surpassed Kistch or Circle chart today? Ditto will follow suit in a couple of weeks
With "Hurt" back to the chart NJ has now their whole discography charting on circle chart
As expected of the biggest Gg in Korea, NewJeans
Are they consider 4th gen?
Real question
They debuted after Itzy
