I was scrolling through the Kpop music show analysis account and something stood out to me. I knew companies paid for views but Youtube filters them in the charts so i thought it doesn’t really matter.
Imagine my surprise when I learned music shows actually count the paid ads views?
Like a group can get 20m organic views, be #1 on the Kr trending page for days making them deserving of the full 1000-1500 points for SNS.. but then comes another company and flat out pays to get their group MV views and they jump from like 10m to 30m.. making them take the full SNS points and maybe win the award
How is this any different than sajagi? Where companies buy their groups album to give them higher sales figures and mediaplay them to be bigger than they actually are
Idk. I’m just so surprised. Like with so many useless talks about Payola in kpop spaces, Youtube views are actually the closest that come to the real thing and yet there’s no backlash at all.. Youtube filters these views for a reason, why don’t music shows take the filtered numbers? Or there at least needs to be pushback from the community against companies doing this.. it’s literally pay per view.. (Payola is short for pay per play btw)
(p/s: post are taken from reddit as usual.. what do you guys think )
