2ne1 faced the drug scandal which causes a huge backlash and a year hiatus. Besides that Minzy didn't renew her contract.

Blackpink are not in hiatus since they're on tour and no member faces a scandal similar to Bom...

3rd gen is built different. These groups are not slowing down at all. You can’t compare them to previous kpop generations.

Bom had been having serious problems with her vocal chords. So, Minzy, who was the all-rounder, used to provide backup vocals for her.

It was the so-called scandal that Bom got into that caused 2ne1 to lose momentum as the public didn't wanna see Bom for a long time and the group couldn't have a cb for a long time.

Minzy left the group after her family had a fight with yge. Her family blamed yg for her lack of solo career.

Dara was never a good vocalist. Very weak vocal technique.

So, based on the above, who was going to provide proper vocals for 2ne1 after minzy left??

CL was very focused on her own solo career. She wanted to desperately succeed in USA. She forgot S.Korea existed, those days.

So, it was inevitable that the group would disband.

2ne1 broke their own group. THE TRUTH.

In contrast-

In BP, all 4 are successful and earning really well. They are globally popular group.

If BP does disband... it's because the 4 of them mutually decided to move to the next phase of their life and leave kpop behind.

So don't compare these groups with totally different situations.

2ne1 were DONE, DOOMED and DESSERTED, long before BP even debuted, in fact, it was because of their public "scandal" that BP debut was delayed until 2016. Also their success is constantly overhyped, they only got "digital hits", their physicals sucked and they weren't going anywhere internationally, and at that point yge was extremely relying of the criminal bg and their money.

Nowadays those criminals are GONE and never coming back, BP is the SOLELY and ONLY money source inside that company, if they leave that company breaks down and goes to hell, so yge is clearly interested on having them renew or at least maintain the BP brand alive.

Its not comparable

Like people mentioned before 2ne1 was done the day Boom had her scandal in 2014 it ruined whatever fame Comeback home made them then it was announced that CL will be shipped to the Us for a solo career at that time YG was very vague about her return to the group people took her promotions in the Us as an unofficial exit then in 2016 Minzy left although underrated she was a key member in the group after by the time Black pink made their debut 2ne1 was long gone

The nail in the coffin for 2NE1 disband is not them not doing well. Falling in Love did okay-ish but Missing You slayed the chart. Also, the whole Crush era is their strongest. What flop are you talking about?

The downfall of 2ne1 was mainly due to:

1) Bom's drug scandal (despite for medical purpose) - resulting in 2ne1 hiatus

2) Minzy leaving because YG doesnt give chance to her to go solo

CL was preparing for solo too when group activities halted for quite long. Her leaving YG eventually is because YG no longer support her after them having BP. The downfall of 2ne1 already happened before BP
