Blackpink got a huge competition from young generation girl groups, while Bts not much

  • Both Bts and Blackpink ruled youtube and spotify and other streaming sites from their respective boy group and girl group side. Now 4th generation prevailing and getting success but still no boy group from 4th generation or from 3rd generation touching bts streaming records even bts went into hituas even though stray kids doing good in spotify but still they are far from competition to bts. but we cannot say the same about girl groups side blackpink got a huge competition from 4th gen girl groups side before 4th gen both blackpink and twice have rival in korean charts but blackpink always lead the international streaming sites now with the present 4th gen girl groups like new jeans and fifty fifty give strong competition to blackpink and braking their some of their records too especially in spotify. not just these groups even lesserfirm, ive and asepa have doing so well that this shows girl groups competition is so fierce. it is interesting to look for competition among top girl group of kpop and younger generation.

  • while ggs are just performing better than bgs in general these last few years,

it's also because the gap between bts & the rest of kpop is just THAT big.

yes, 3-4 records might have been taken from bts since their hiatus, but i think many don't realise (or want to admit) that the amount of huge records bts have are unprecedented. Reaching certain achievements is more common now in kpop, but the manner how is still VERY different & that's also why the distance between bts & the rest of kpop doesn't decrease. Finding competition for an act like bts is like finding competition for Drake/Ariana/JB/TS/... since that is bts' category.

  • I think BTS and blackpink also compete for each other's. 4th gen until pre 5th era seems dominating by many girl group launching hits after hits but they're still ultimately after BTS supremacy. But it's only benefitting K-pop although HYBE doesn't like to be challenged

    A record of records :-)

  • That is true. BTS in every way has far surpassed everyone else in kpop and are competing with their western competition. Blinks have been deluding themselves for years that BlackPink were on the same popularity tier with BTS when they have and never will be. Not just from charts/sales but impact such as governments changing something in their favor which has only ever and is still happening with BTS. (There are threads of just one BTS member making a government debate on bringing the hallyu wave to their countries in the UAE) But ego prevails and now it's showing that it's not just the comparison to BTS that were misguided (if they came to terms with that there probably would be less fanwars between blinks and army) on their part but not even in the girl group scene are they even safe either. Even their YouTube dominance might start to change for Babymoster. If they don't come back now that BTS are inactive these 4th gen girl groups will surpass most of their records except YouTube.

  • As of now, there hasn't been any notable occurrence where a 4th gen boy group has gained overwhelming popularity or achieved widespread recognition. However, if such a phenomenon were to happen, we would undoubtedly witness a significant shift in the K-pop scene.

  • 50/50 isn't even a topic to take in consideration bc we all know they wont replicate cupid, their company knows that more than us

Ggs barely break 2m daily Spotify except for nj (which fall flat some weeks after, for other metrics u can go check Spotify korea bc it Hilarity at this point. Army trying to prove a point there with songs that aren't even top50 in korea charts

  • I don’t think blackpink have any competition. In Korea yes. But many GGs have always been successful digitally in Korea unlike BG’s. Yeah 4th gen don’t have anyone at BTS level in Korea no doubt about it. But that’s not really saying much.

Versions and digipak inflated physical album sales and play listing inflated Spotify stats and absolutely no traction on YouTube won’t put current gen GGs on BP level let’s not be obtuse. They are all really successful and I like a lot of the even more than I do BP but they neither have recognition nor the power that BP have.

  • Are BP streams decreasing due new ggs though? if anything they got their fastest billion on Spotify this year without music and are gaining 10m daily for the last 3 months which wasn't happening back in 2022, plus with the new discovery mode is easier to get hits, if it helped the majoritity of 4th gen to get one big hit, then I guess BP shouldn't be spare of it? or will they?
