  • he was only invited there, he ate dinner and left according to his statement, he wasn't the person who planned the meeting, or have any business to do with the investors. there is no proof he has any involvement with the burning sun or prostitution.

That’s what he said but a lot of people didn’t believe it and that is why I said he is shady

Plus, I have never said that he organized it but that he was there was shady enough since this wasn’t a normal party. Even a madam shin (?) was there and she is said to be part of the chinese mafia. So there is a lot more to it

  • Wait...he was involved in Burning Sun scandal? =O

Only thing I remember is him initially trying to defend YG (since you know YG used 2ne1 and Big bang to clean his wrecked rep then gave him free reign to release music when he was at his lowest and all) then getting dragged into the mud too. After that he kinda hid away till pretty much this year.

Thats why its kinda iffy if he really was fully involved or was just a passer-by who didn't know anything. He is a LONG TIME friend of YG (which is why he ended up getting signed with such a horrible rep), father is a billionaire and he himself also did some shady things too depending on how you look at it (including dodging enlistment, getting fined by the gov for 'inappropriate lyrics' and the whole anti american song thing).

Since gangnam style he really cleaned up his image and stuck to a clean kinda music so loads of people don't know how messy his past is.

Alright, that makes a lot more sense. Thank you

  • Lots of conjecture in this thread. Nothing regarding his involvment in the meeting has ever been proven other than he was there for a while and left early, which was supported by witnesses.

The army stuff is one thing but he did re-enter and serve in the army in the end

"Innappropiate lyrics" is just bullshit stuff so why even bring that up. Why would being censored by the gov be a negative thing? Its a bullshit law no matter what country. Mind you this was also a country that was still barely out if its shackles from being a dictatorship at the time.

What he said about american soldiers might have been abit coarse, but this was at the height of the iraq war and news coming out of multiple war crimes by us troops. It was also almost twenty years ago and something he has apologized for later.

Him standing up for YG is not that strange really. Say what you will about YG but he gave several people a chance when they were at rock bottom and none else would touch them. Tablo/epik high was also signed when none else would after the false accusations that he had faked his stanford degree.

I won't claim Psy is an angel, but i wouldnt call him shady directly.

  • Thats why I said 'depending on how you look at it'. Some people do use that as proof of him having a shady past, the person was curious and I just tried to give them as much info as I could on why though I don't personally agree with some of the reasonings.

Yes he apologised for it, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. And didn't he only apologise after he was doing major promotions in the US so kinda needed them to forgive him? (though he did have a kinda good reason to be mad at the US at the time with the deaths of those girls and US soldiers don't exactly have the best reputation with the Korean public thanks to lots of incidents like this).

Exactly just because someone apologized doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. A lot of things in the bs scandal haven’t been investigated yet and a lot of things won’t be uncovered. The sole fact that he was at such a party suggests that he is shady. If he is or not, it is still up to discussion.

  • Resident Psy stan here. From what I've heard, here's the chronology of the party:

    1. Jho Low, who was at the time believed to be a Hollywood power player, decided to cultivate business connections in South Korea in 2014, so he decided to have a party.
    2. He invited Psy, who he'd met in Hollywood when Psy was promoting in the US.
    3. Psy accepted the invitation and asked if he could bring Yang Hyun Suk, because YHS was his boss at the time.
    4. Jho Low accepted YHS; they had a meeting before the party with Jho Low, Psy, YHS, Hwang Hana, and others who weren't named. Psy spent most of the meeting chatting with Hwang Hana and drinking; Jho Low, YHS, and some of the others planned the party.
    5. The next day, the party occurred. There was dinner; there were quite a few women there who weren't affiliated with the businesspeople. Psy and YHS attended the dinner portion of the party. Psy and YHS left after dinner, leaving the rest to their negotiations.
    6. A few years later, Jho Low was exposed as a con artist who'd ripped off millions from the Malaysian government.

In my opinion, Psy wasn't in control of any of the events at the 2014 party; therefore, he shouldn't be blamed for hiring the prostitutes. Seungri wasn't in attendance, so it wasn't related to Burning Sun; the event was exposed at the same time.

Furthermore, I'm glad Celeb wasn't officially released; cute concepts don't suit him AT ALL.

    I CANNOT BELIEVE IT

  • it seems to be like a whole circle of men in yge entertainment who were involved in "business deals"

i wonder if the whole industry is like this lol

The whole industry is with a few exceptions rotten to the core. If you follow the media narratives about certain entertainments, you can easily see who is trying to go away from this kind of business practices. There are certain entertainments that get a lot of hate and almost no shield by the press. These are mostly the ones not taking part in shady activities. I know a lot of stans try to ignore or defend it but it’s the hard truth and gets really apparent in scandals like burning sun or when you go clubbing etc. in Korea

  • Psy has Pnation though so not laying so low.

Also..he was only there to eat? Like the rest whored away but Psy - he left early to go home and make some tea and watch historic kdramas?

    Anyways

I bet it’s not only entertainment companies that are rotten.

What happens when you go clubbing?

  • So why is he shady exactly? From the first page it seems like he went to burning sun and that was it but users implicating him with more serious stuff? That's a huge reach.

Hyoyeon DJd one night there and people tried to attach her name to the entire controversy. Seems like people are willing cancel anyone for no reason these days...
