How can Korean movies win Oscars/Emmy but Kpop groups can’t win Grammys?

Pretentious Grammy wont ever pick them as grand winners

The only Korean act making waves for a Grammy is BTS and boybands are heavily stigmatized by the Grammy committee

Backstreet Boys came out with a lot of hits back in the day but i dont remember them ever winning a Grammy. They were nominated a bunch though.

Because black people dominate the music industry, so forced diversity is not required. Oscars on the other hand can't catch a break from racism accusations so they constantly award diversity over actual movie.

CODA - disability

Nomadland - made by asian woman, homelessness

Parasite - an entirely asian movie, class struggle

Greek Book - a gay black man

The Shape of Water - disability

Moonlight - a gay black man

Birdman - a movie about actors (these mofos love themselves)

12 years a slave - slavery

and so on and so on

Maybe you can also ask why legends like Queen, Diana Ross, Bob Marley, ABBA, etc did not receive any Grammy. It's not just BTS.

I'm quite sure you know why or at least have an inkling of the reason why. This is likely your not so subtle way of shading BTS but go off.

you cant really compare those, two totally different forms of media and the way they're consumed couldnt be more apart

not saying its impossible for non english foreign songs to win a grammy, but the movie following is way more open to foreign media and even see quite the prestige when they're able to "get it", whereas in the music industry this isn't very much the norm.. I bet someone can explain it better than I do

Japan als would deserve to win some music awards, because some of their movies won before (I forgot which but I know that at least 2 Japanese movies have an oscar)

well, the world can't be fair to everyone

the music industry life is less credible than actors life....

because Kdrama and Movies (Korean Actors) > KPOP( K-idol) 😅

All CAUCASIAN boy bands that never won a grammy either. BTS just added a new seasoning to the mix as a KOREAN boyband. Even a voter has openly admitted to the prejudice boy bands receive inside the academy.

Bc kpop fans are alot more embarrassing than kmovie fans.

Movies and music are two different industries. Akira Kurosawa may be one of the most revered filmmakers of all time, it's not gonna help your favorite J-Pop idol group break into the Western market in any way.

The Grammys are a private party for the big US music labels - not an independent measuring stick for an international group's value. I didn't see any Americans winning at the MNet Asian Music Awards, either. Might have been funny if Sam Smith showed up in Asia wearing his Satan costume and beat BTS.

Oscars, by contrast, are handed out based on comformity to current norms of political correctness - so international films and actors can be allowed to win one from time to time.
