It goes to show you how when there is little-to-no competition and/or variety during a certain period of time to distinguish what is good and what is bad or what is worthy of praise and what is not or when consumption is the predominate determinant, any of these taste-makers can easily make you embrace mediocrity or something you would never rate in the first place if there was something better out there.

Not every "shine new thing" release songs like "Hype Boy" and "Ditto" between their debut and 1st comeback-- arguably the two best K-pop songs within the last decade.

I feel like NJ ended Ive.
Starship and Kakao spent bucketloads to promote Ive, and it was working. But then NJ released at the same time as Ive's 3rd song and BAMM, they sucked all the oxygen out of the room, and all that $$$$ went down the drain.
Ive planned to promote now, because why would you schedule going on Running Man unless you are promoting. But they are avoiding NJ, otherwise they would have an even quicker demise. Also Kakao has recently partnered with cube/gidle. Why would they do this unless they thought Ive was done. So looks like much of the promotion $$$ will now be diverted to gidle, to what Kakao now see as more successful and profitable.
