itzy. red velvet always has up and downs, but itzy hasn't been able to recreate their debut success.
Itzy never progressed beyond their debut hip hop/rap/BlackPink imitation concept but that genre (finally) fell out of favor this year - just in time for Cheshire to implode. They still have the looks and the talent, but they'll need a new concept to keep up with the top Gen 4 groups.
Red Velvet - I don't know what to say. They always had flashes of genius, then SM made them follow up with some silly song they were too old to pull off. When aespa debuted they were forgotten - just like when Red Velvet debuted f(x) was forgotten. SM can apparently handle only one girl group at a time. 
So to answer your question: Red Velvet fell further, because Itzy is young and their story is not over yet.

Clips like this remind me of how nuts kpop is. Look at all those guys completely ignoring and not even looking at those beautiful girls. We know they want to but they aren't allowed cause one glance could jeopardize the whole group success if they show any interest in any girl. Fucking crazy.
