So many ballads in Korea i guess it's hard to stand out. Psycho is the only one i can think of off the top of my head. Also, i grew up with the best subgenre in pop music history, the rock power ballad, and it's pretty hard for current songs to match the glory years of the 80s and early 90s. And then in more recent times, you have unbelievable ballads from the Swift/Olivia/Lady Gaga triumvirate.

Here are some GG Kpop ballads that could give some competition, all 9s and 10s.

This Everglow one is on its face very generic, but for some reason i cant get enough of it.

One of BP's best songs ever. Love how unique it is.

This is one of the best songs of 2022, Miyeon's ballad off her solo album.

This is more of a retro mid temp song technically i guess, but it has a ballad vibe.

maybe because kpop already had this vibe of upbeat or anything else besides ballad?

thus the ballad are usually eaten by the trot singers? or soloists

I preferred ballad from a drama to hit/feel the emotional presentation they try show

but some KPOP GG ballad I like is
Kara - I'll be there
T-ara - Lies Ballad version
SNSD - Honey and Echo

all of them come from 2nd gen

It's Koreans' own fault for not making One of these Nights a smash hit. Kpop stans throw the world underrated around a lot, but "The Velvet" is seriously one of the most gorgeous albums in both vocals and production.

Like how do you have One of these Nights, Light Me Up, Rose Scent Breeze, and Cool Hot Sweet Love on 1 album?? That's R&B made with care and attention.

1) they're not an idol group

2) Their entire formation was fuelled by Yoo Jaesuk and his TV show, and anything touched by him is a near instant hit.
