Very rarely do once nugu groups hit it huge. They can eventually gain moderate success of course. Nugu groups are nugu for a reason. Whether it be peoples stubbornness to only check out popular groups or groups only from the Big4 (yes Big4 privilege exists). Or whether it be poor production/music/promotions, or even simply being from a lesser known company in comparison to a bigger company (whether it be Big4 or a well established company like Cube or Starship)
Nugu groups are nugu for a reason

It's kind of laughable to expect most of them to hit the highs big4 can and stay there. They don't have that kind of support and resources to pull from. Could it happen? sure, but majority won't get that luck.
If they can achieve moderate success and stability, that is a good thing because it allows them to go on comfortably. You don't need to be the very best to be successful.

I get this, I wish my nugu faves did better on charts and got more recognition

its a known and sad fact that even if they are very talented it's the money that pays for the song and training that matters.
Promotions, relations with PD's for shows, M/V sets etc. That all comes with money and influence.
Kpop is a business. You don’t got the money, chances of making it big are slim. But everyone knows who the top groups are. And they generate a ton of money so they can debut new groups and get more capital
-
It can happen, but it's usually a 1/10 thing.
As an artist myself, I know how competitive the music industry is. It really does take money and connections or the craziest luck to make it in this industry.
Unfortunately, most truly nugu companies do not have the money to be able to give their groups the best (song, clothes, MV etc.) to compete with the bigger companies and even if they can invest in a few comebacks with top quality things, the money ends up running dry before the group can recoup those funds.
Most of the nugu groups who have seen success have not been able to maintain it in recent years. Ie. Momoland and Brave Girls.
The biggest nugu success story is probably HYBE and how they built that company into Big 4 status off of BTS's back. Though Bang PD did have some connections in the industry having worked with JYPE, so that helped, but doesn't change the fact they were at a huge disadvantage and basically managed a miracle to get to where they are now. A miracle built on Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

the biggest reason is they cannot compete with rich labels who not only produce tons of content which requires great cost but also promote on popular shows and channels which requires money & connections.
And I believe the gap is only getting bigger between nugudom and big4 because of huge amounts of content pushed by jyp and hybe. The labels now simply cannot compete. Even the bigger ones like yg, cube, sm and starship. So, you can tell how bad it is for a small agency.
The worse thing on top of it the nugu group cannot wait too long between each comeback. But when they wait too long, the good thing is they can generate enough money for a quality cb. That's the conundrum for a nugu group. They cannot follow the blackpink model even if it suits them the best money wise. The best example to look at for this is loona.
Heck i believe even 2 cbs every year is less for a nugu group. It's really tough.

The gap with music production side is really not that big like some people assume.
There are plenty of nugu groups with good songs, but their company just won't have the money and connections to push the group properly.
A big label makes all the difference for the success of an artist, that is true in kpop or in any music industry.
Even in the western world, the music industry is still dominated by its own big 3 in the form of Universal, Sony, and Warner.

Yes! This! The music is still good, regardless of how big the group is.

This.
Maintaining 1 success is hard
(hence why there are many people who are skeptics for 4th gen rookies and their "1 hit wonder" and even there are some that said IVE needs comeback 1 more time to be acknowledged by them)

And for real, stanning a nugu makes you appreciate their achievements in a proper way...
And I'm not discrediting big 4 groups' achievements, it just that you'll feel more of their emotion when they got some form of appreciation like music show thropy. They may didn't even dreaming about nominated in any of year end award shows, because they know.

This. Like I'm extremely happy that Dongpyo is getting his own tv show and shit. He's not nugu but like he's defenitely not popular

Did you not read the OP???

There’s less than a 5% chance that a group can compete with the success of the big three (now big four) or even best them. The only group I can think of during recent times is BTS, and now their once very small company bighit has become this huge entity known as HYBE and dominates the big 4.
It is possible, and I personally love an underdog story, so I’d be happy to see a group from a nugu company do well.

Unless people are actively searching for these nugu groups, the chances of them being discovered by some random kpop fans are very small.
It's not that their fans are not spending money, It's just that they don't have enough of them to make a difference.
Do you really think all those articles from the big 4 groups happen naturally?
The labels are always trying to give them exposure, and they do that by contacting people in the media to write something about them.
They put them on playlists, and use ads on YouTube, Spotify, and so on.
There is a ton of push behind the scenes to make these groups as big as they can. That is true for any artist signed to a big label.
