I agree. Their return will be the most iconic one of all groups either way. 
Usually the decline comes around 14 months after the issue starts.
Dec 2023 is the real test. I don't see BTS' domination lasting past that point.
BTS have already demonstrated they're the exception in many ways.
Nature abhors a vacuum and by then someone else would be dominating the world . And BtS might just become concert staples, like these aging acts touring the world, while the real show is run by newer singers.
You mean like the Rolling Stones? Or Metallica? Waiting for it.
Of course there will be newer artists, there are always, but that doesn't mean they will reach a legendary status.
I just hope the military hiatus will get rid of these feel-good/summer songs they keep doing for some years
BTS music is top tier but I feel that they really are the best version of themselves when they sing sad hyper songs (FL, INU, BST etc...), sad songs like Louder than bombs, eternal, forever young or hype songs like IDOL, Dyonisus, MIC drop
Please give us some good old broken hearted shit, i'm so tired of these happy songs

Doubtful that act will come from SK. SK had one chance at that and BTS was it. The next worldwide act that dominates will come from the west as it has many times before. Too bad kpop fans cared more about dragging BTS than supporting the only asian act that had a chance of beating the typical white western acts that usually dominate.

If he had any foresight he would have packed the members to USA and NEVER would have looked back, leaving K-O-R-E-A to IU and the Trottists which would have made it into an insignificant pop desert as it always was.

A group from a non-big 3 company to not disband, for example. I've been an Army since their debut almost, I've heard many times that they were not gonna make it because they were from a nugu company. And they did it.

No. That is not any tangible/verifiable information.
But ok, I was not having high hopes of a valid answer anyway. Nor is it an easy question to answer.
You can call me stupid if that makes you feel better about yourself. One person already told me I'm intelligent today, maybe the Universe needs to get back to normal.
It is not, but BTS trajectory is also not comparable to other Kpop acts, it doesn't matter how successful they are.
That is also not the 'exception' answer.
Trajectories are highly individual - no two trajectories will be the same, so you would have to do a deviation analysis to show how different from the norm a trajectory is.
Too much data work.. I am ok to let it be.
They are stupendous success, a very rare non-West act breaking to global fame, (probably since ABBA, though ABBA is West - just not English/Latin). It is in that sense they are an exception.
But otherwise, I don't know.
