I don't think this is his intention, but watching his back reminded me of a famous dancer I learned about in class, she didn't like that she was so obsessed with the audience's attention and being loved and popular, rather than the art of dancing. So she did a performance where she only looked down or to the side the whole time, refusing to face the audience directly, to symbolize that her performance is about the movements, not just all about herself and her ego.

However when I learned about this it pissed me off because I felt like she's using a dance performance to work through something she could just have resolved in her head. And isn't it like the height of egotism and making it about yourself, to make a performance about your personal psychological struggle and nothing else. So if it's about dance, not her persona, why is she telling her life story on stage. It's hypocritical. I had an argument with my classmate about it who was like "Why do you care how someone expresses her trauma and makes sense of her life", but I'm not annoyed because she is expressing herself, I'm annoyed cause making a dance venting your personal confusions is just as egotistic as making a dance seeking the audience's approval and praise, it's not any less self-centered.

Edit: I guess the point of the famous dancer was that she is making the dance to express herself (which is what dance is "supposed" to be about), not for others to like it. It's not that she was saying she is a pure being who has no ego by doing this dance, but more like emphasizing that dance is artistic, not only for seeking approval from the audience.

I don’t know why a lot of people are going down the road of "he’s an attention seeker" – that just seems excessively negative. Just having a unique style of dress or being eccentric doesn’t mean you’re an attention whore. I know this kind of "presence" is one Chanhyuk has only cultivated recently, but maybe this is how he feels comfortable expressing himself now. I personally think although what he’s wearing and doing might not be usual, it makes him stand out from the crowd. He reminds me of this fashion designer, Bajowoo (99&IS), with the glasses and mask and hair. I don’t know, it’s just kinda appealing to me. Anyways, it’s like y’all learned the concept of a "pick me" and decided to call everyone that. No need to be so negative.

After this non-interview, he went on stage, stood and sang, showing his back to the audience, showed no face at all.

Fantastic .. the best ending fairy, the best choreography and the best live stage.

K-pop had drifted far from vocals, songs into lot's of bop, bling and bullshit.

He's also one of the most respected singer songwriters in Korea as he's had some of the biggest songs to ever chart.

So yeah...he doesn't give a fuck. Also if you watch WINNER Seunghoon's new YT channel, he's one of the most liked people in YG, every YG artist seems to have a friendship with him.

I've said it in another thread, I think everyone in YG would be in favor of him being the EP (Yang Hynsuk's old role) of YGE.
