Isn't it wild how BP is still the group without an official eng single??

It's puzzling considering Teddy is American and speaks fluent English. He's the one making the decisions and it's confusing as hell.

I'm surprised they haven't put out a promoted eng song, all the ones so far have been bsides that are treated like they don't exist.

Which is weird for a group who have so many English songs probably more than most other groups on their regular albums lol.

This whole comparison just seems odd to me, they are in a completely different situation than the other groups because they already have full English songs and a lot of English words in their songs. So basically if they already have so much English in their Korean songs, then what's the need to specifically have a (edit; Title track) song in 100% English?

Well full english songs are really helpful for artists. Many people speak English and a lot of people stay away from foreign songs cause they don't understand the language. And unfortunately, western radio stations rarely play your songs if they are not in English.

I only heard Pink Venom once on radio and that'll probably be the last time.

Meanwhile if you have a promoted English song then radio djs are much more likely to play your song multiple times cus it'll be in the list they are given. Not only that labels will actually put in more money to send the song to radios.

On the other hand, foreign-language songs are pretty much only played in that period where radio djs actually play the songs that are recommended by people, not the ones they are given by those above them.

And finally, it generates hype, the biggest gg releasing their first promoted english song with an actual mv, people are gonna tune in.

I don't listen to the radio but shouldn't Ice Cream be a song that's played on radio too then? The song is 90% English. I guess the "Language" would be labeled as Korean if there was a place to label it though.

From where I live, it wasn't lol. For radio stations the Korean in ice cream is "too much" to be played on radio. It's really upsetting though, I feel sorry for the djs though, most of them have to stick to a list of songs they can play and can rarely deviate from that list.

It is wild because they have the most english songs I think (in percentage over their discography)! Even BP’s latest album was considered non-global by Billboard because it has more English than Korean. So it’s so weird of them not too.

Its no like they announce it will be in English, it's like Korean to them, they speak it fluently so they just sing it

YG never specify ic was full English, we found about the album the day that apple thing was posted, we found about rosé song bc Jeff billboard dude interview here the same day of her single release, money didn't have any announcement of it being in English etc

It just happen, fans listen to it and that's it

I know the reason behind it as we can see other kpop groups are throwing away their korean identity just for more streams. The sad thing is kpop fans are absolutely welcoming it just to see more success. They are becoming the "main" comebacks. Not really sure if that's good for kpop moving forward but it was always a fad anyway and companies wanna squeeze as much they can before it's over.
