There are different ways to be successful. I am very glad that Wendy, Joy and Seulgi all met success with their solo album in their own way. I hope that it will encourage them to keep relesing music because the industry is very harsh with female idols who go solo after a period of activity within a group and sometimes, big3 female idols are not even sparred, the second generation proved that enough.

Nayeon was unnecessary hated for her initial charting. It just shows how some Kpop fans have irrealistic expectations and live viscerally through charts and competition.
Red Velvet members were deemed flops before their solo debut. Some even said that Wendy would never sell 100k. Red Velvet have always been underestimated because they never truly fought for the top position, another proof that Kpop fans have this weird and toxic "winner takes it all" mentality.

Seulgi reflected her own style, I couldn't feel the connection with her songs, but still her debut is very good. I got really emotional listening to Wendy and Joy's title tracks in their solos and they both realesed healing songs that were just what I needed that time. I guess I had higher expectations from Seulgi, I was expecting a more lively hardcore dance song, it was more smooth and chill. Maybe after the music shows, the song will rise to the melon chart. These days, most songs hit the charts later.

I like this chill rnb sound sprinkle with the shade of Billie Eilish old music more than YYJ trademark SMP sound.
However it seems that public are tired of YYJ music direction . The same was happening with aespa-Girls.
She already started her promo but the ranking didn't increase. So I think she need more promos like appearing in popular variety show/yt perhaps.

Joy has been an actress for 5 years and had multiple OSTs and variety shows. She has established her individuality before her solo. Notice how among RV members on brand reputations ranking, she's always the one who ranks higher. Plus her song is more GP friendly.
Wendy as being the main vocalist of the group had a lot of OSTs plus MC gigs. And GP likes ballads too.
Seulgi on the other hand. As the group's lead vocalist... She has always been in the group and subunits. SM went wrong in this because I think they should have pushed her more like the others on solo activities. She didn't established her individuality before her solo. Or maybe this solo has been so delayed, that the gp wasn't interested anymore?

Joy is one if not the most popular RV member with general public in korea so thats not surprising, they also like her voice tone a lot, i wish she get a proper solo debut with original songs
