Why are K-pop stans so obsessed with their favs writing songs?

I usually don't care if an idol is involved in writing. It's a nice novelty if they are, but as others said, we never really know how much they actually "wrote" on a song.

But it's pop music, it is what it is. I'm under no illusions that most idols are the cute, happy package wrapped around other peoples work.

In the other genres of music I'm into I very much expect more authenticity but when it's privileged young 20 year olds... eh...

because songwriting is a talent and obviously not all singers are songwriters and not all songwriters are singers

but if a person can sing and write it's just another added level of talent that one can appreciate...

sure it might not be good writing but since most idol songwriters have to pass the writing onto the producer/main producer for an album there are multiple multiple checks before it gets released and actually used...

Hongjoong and Mingi do write their rap parts as well as other parts along with collaboring with Eden. It's not being obsessed, but I think it's hella impressive when they can write their own lyrics whether it's a verse, an entire song, a rap part etc. It just shows how creative they can be. If you watched Kingdom you would have also seen Hongjoong doing the composing and arrangement for their performances and only turning to Edenary when he needed advice.

I know of a few groups who compose, arrange, write their own music, in fact I stan quite a few who do. I see nothing wrong with mentioning, nor hyping up that talent. It's incredible to be able to do things on your own, let alone have your company allow it.

Yeah it’s kinda funny to see them downplaying writing but once their faves did it, you will see them singing a different tune..

Anyway, I respect idols who put out their creations on Soundcloud, thanks for sharing. Will check them out after work!
