why is "stable vocal" a compliment?

  • because that's how low the bar is for kpop stans :pepe-just-smile:

i mean it is hard to sing and dance at the same time but that's literally what idols are trained to do

    out of service

  • Idols aren’t robots, it’s almost impossible to not be shaky when you dance at the same time.

yeah but whats the margin of error though ? 10% at best?

would a professional runner be complimented if he barely qualified in half his races ?

  • Sorry to tell ya'll but only a handful of singers and performers sound stable when they sing live. This is in most industries.

But, you can still sound good even if you don't sound completely stable anyway, but it helps.

Yes, they are paid to sound stable, but the human body is an interesting thing, You kinda have to breathe and sometimes, your breath may not come out the exact way it needs to hit a note the way you did in the studio after you sang that note 15 times to get it to sound like that.

Saying this as someone who has performed live and done studio work.

Edit: To clarify, this is in regard to singing while dancing. 100% a singer needs to sound stable when performing live if no dancing or overactive movement is involved. That's the basics. Most singers are still not going to sound 100% like they do on the record, but you should be at least 80%+ there (for pop singers). For singers who undergo harsher training, like choral performers or opera singers, it should be even higher than that.

  • Cause it is, singing while dancing is extremely hard no matter how many times you practice it. Y'all underestimate it a lot, try dancing, singing and trying to sound stable.

A lawyer isn't going to win a lot of their cases, but that doesn't mean you go "oh it's their job, they should be winning most of their cases".

Just because you are paid to do something doesn't you have to be perfect at it too, this "everything has to be perfect" mentality is the reason why lipsync exists in the first place.

  • basically everyone has their own level of standards

and even that self casted standards changes from time to time based on situations or circumstances

so if a person is willing to compliment then it's a good enough standard for that specific person to make a compliment

  • Singing and dancing well at the same time is still very difficult no matter how long you trained. Only a few artists ( western or kpop)can really do this. It would be easier if the singing parts would allow the idols to stand and sing , but many times the choreo is in middle of the singing parts.

Ok. I thought you were talking about doing both at same time. As far as your point, I can see what you mean. The problem with the industry is that it focuses on the overall performance, so it seems to me that they don’t heavily emphasize vocals like they should. The industry just wants passable vocals imo. I hope going forward vocals will get more attention and encouraging signs are STAYC and Nmixx

  • what I consider stable live vocals is a very rare thing in kpop. When sth is rare, it deserve praise
