What will happen to KPOP as a whole with all these sexual harassment and bullying accusations?

  • It's not scandalous enough for the western media to pick it up and we are already a cult.

It may break the fantasy that K-pop idols are perfect (but in 6 months everyone will be back to thinking their idols are perfect).

  • the constant pedophilia on hollywood is really sickening wish the whole industry burned

Gonna be honest, with the amount of underage idols, it's pretty likely that this kind of scandal will eventually come to light in the kpop industry too.

I think that in past there was some situation like that in Japan so I bet it's already happening in Korea, we just don't know this might be mostly about trainees tho, not about idols.

Really gross and I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff happens in the K-industry as well. The entertainment industry in general is really disgusting, we don't know what happens behind the scenes. This stuff has been happening as far back as the 60s, but victims have more of a platform to speak out now.

We just have to realize that our faves might be bad people and you shouldn't believe that their on-stage personalities are what they really are backstage.

  • as far as im concerned life will go on, its going to be a story of the past in a few months and no one's gonna give two flying fricks.

  • Nothing will happen. The GP already had little interest in kpop, it's possible they will have even less interest after this. Kpop fans will keep stanning their groups. This is nothing new in general, there will be nice people and shitty people everywhere, it's just harder to tell with idols (and celebrities) because all of them pretend to be nice on camera and we just know them from watching a few videos of them.

  • They've always been scandals and there always will be. The earth doesn't stop spinning anyway.

Unless EVERY k-pop idol happens to be a monster all of a sudden, the industry will keep on.

The consequences of these controversies will be more in the trainee recruitment process if anything. Entertainment companies will likely investigate more thoroughly the background of their trainees. Other than that, not much will change I guess.

  • Rich and powerful people probably aren't more likely to do shitty things, but they are a heckuva lot more likely to get away with it. I think there are definitely some false accusations but overall people are being held accountable more than ever before and that is good :) If the industry fails because of it so be it I already have all my TWICE cds :pepe-popcorn:

  • Kpop as an industry will be fine. Hollywood had stuff like the Weinstein and Epstein scandals, both of which were bigger than school bullying, and has ticked right on. Heck, the ex-President of the US got caught paying off a porn star and the world didn't stop turning. Korea is a conservative society, so certain stars may be affected if allegations can be proven, but the industry as a whole will be fine.

What you may see, however, is companies vetting their trainees more thoroughly (talking to classmates, etc) so that you don't get in SEVENTEEN's situation where an established group gets caught up in one member's scandals. You may also see some companies start pulling the members out of school at earlier ages as a preventative measure.

  • the gp will further lose interest in idols

say bye to thoughts of your 4th gen faves ever charting now lol
