So, I made an entire thread about this but editing in kpop is quite wild. It can be unnoticeable to the gp and really create a distorted self-image. Recently, there's been editing on videos as well. I'm sure people have noticed the blurring and whitening filters all the music shows are using. It makes idols look like polished dolls.
Its not just jyp or nmixx who do this. Every single kpop group is heavily edited.

The world uses too much photoshop. KPOP ain't alone by far and pretty sure this has been going on for awhile.
Sadly yes, companies try to make their idols as "perfect" as possible

Tbh some of those music shows thumbnails are gorgeous (some can be too much though). I don’t see the harm in editing videos for celebrities when the entire world edits their videos as well, with tons of accessible filters. Unless the individual in question doesn’t like to be touched up, I find it okay.
Yup photoshop is overuse in kpop companies really want to stan by the everything needs to be perfect criteria.

FWIW, I think teens on TikTok with filters and makeup do a lot more damage to other teens than Kpop idols. I do think it contributes to this attitude that anything that isn’t smoothed and blurred isn’t acceptable. I mean, if there’s constantly a filter on someone who looks like Jaehyun just to cover a damned beauty mark, what hope is there for the rest of us?

The two pic is clearly of different quality as well. While there's a lot you can photoshop, adding details into a photo is very hard.
There's also a difference between completely photoshopping a photo and touching up.
I do photography as a hobby and 90% of my photos get touched up. Contrast and saturation can always be touched as well as editing the highlights and shadows.
