The same could be said for those GGs selling 1 mil and close to 2mil. Aespa were dragged hard because their spotify listeners and youtube views are bad in comparison to their album sales.
But nmixx (no hate i love them) were similarly selling 1mil albums on debut year without getting any hit. So album sales have never and will never correlate with number of hits / song charting / streams and views. It all boil down to who has the biggest (supportive) fanbase and yes, the C and J fanbase are the most hardcore one alongside the SEA.
On flip coin, there are also groups with good charting songs but never been a big seller - GIDLE (relatively smaller sales), Everglow (in their beginning years). So this just solidify my points.
Gidle latest album almost reaches 1M+ tho. And Everglow is never good at charting. They're more popular in their earlier years because of youtube views which are mostly from ads

nothing sus about the number. Seventeen repackaged album sector 17 is selling more than NCT127 regular album, Best selling album released in 2022 is Face the Sun (surpassed proof). I'm just curious if Seventeen will be able to reach 5M+ and beat Map the soul 7 to be the best selling kpop album of all time.

Aespa fans and girlgroup fans in general see Ive are just bunch of pretty & talentless faces. Aespa fans were so proud of Aespa's Next level achievement and they're so confident that Aespa is the one top of gen 4. But then Ive debut and can do exactly the same as Aespa but better. 3 consecutive hits while Aespa went down with Girls made them salty. So many wonyoung and leeseo bashing posts. They also start the bullshit Ive is the next twice, peak early and go down, just like twice and red velvet ( floppest twice is still higher than the best red velvet, it's just fact). And then New jeans debut and surpass everything Ive and Aespa did. Ive fans don't care much because Ive is still doing really well but it'll be cool if their favs won't be attacked anymore (less wonyoung negative post nowadays). Aespa fans start attacking Newjeans along with Blink and army and sometimes dives join the party for fun.
SM girlgroups fans are always like that, starting from SNSD. I can tell you about how they bullshiting about T-ara, WGs, 2ne1, Rainbow, 9muses but that's another story

No. If anything from SNSD, it must be into the new world. Gee was a successful song because of timing. It was released at the beginning of the year, basically robbing at empty house. It's like love scenario or ditto.

It's delulu saying SVST is bigger than EXO. SVT can even pull 4.5m+ pre-order this comeback but it's very different from BTS 7. BTS 7 is basically a repackaged album with a lot of new songs + higher price + no fansign/fancall + way less versions + ... SVT's songs now are more well-known among public but they're still mostly fanbase-driven. EXO has 2 legit hits among public which are Growl and Love Me Right. Hot is like the SVT biggest song to date but it's at level of Power at best.

Not anyone can live on the hype of their family members. Jungsis was popular but Krystal was popular on her own. Krystal peak is way bigger than Jessica peak. Cheondung, Gong Myung, Zico brother, ... are not considered popular and their popularity died when their family member flop. Gong Seungyeon is a friend of Sulli, Krystal, Seulgi + Jungyeon sister (top girl group at that time) + We got married but she needs 6 six years to get recognition with the best new actress at blue dragon award.

Irene fame started fading in 2019, when people didnt take RV seriously anymore. RV raised again with psycho but it's non promotion era so Irene couldnt came back. Monster didnt help and the video was the knock out. Jennie would eventually take the throne even if Irene scandal doesnt exist. For gen4, it's Wonyoung. Minji can top brand rank for another 12 months but there is no impact from her.
